claws out when jumping into or out of lap by
Rob
Hello, we have three great cats, two of them are brothers and exhibit the
same behavior. They are about three years old and declawed (adopted them
that way). They never scratch or use their claws or bite, except when
jumping into or out of our laps, they extend their rear claws about half of
the...

Surgery -- megacolon by
Rhonda
Okay, looks like our cat may have emergency surgery for mega colon as
soon as we can find a surgeon.
Our regular vet says it looks like she has an old injury, a broken
pelvis, or a congenital problem that makes her pelvic area much smaller
than it should be.
For whatever reason, things have...

can cats learn words? by
[email protected]
I have 2 cats they are around 3 years old. They love tuna fish.
Whenever I say the word "tuna" real loud, they come running and
meowing loudly where ever I am.
Now here is the amazing thing. The cats know what a can of tuna is. I
did a little test the other night. I got their visual attention...

Breakfast at Tiffany's by
Rhonda
Has anyone seen that movie? I had NO idea that a cat would be one of the
stars!
Loved the ending, although the poor kitty was so wet.
Once in awhile now I will grab one of our cats, hold him close and say
"CAAAAT, CAAAAAT..." (I know, there's probably a 12-step program for this.)

Cardiomyopathy - what's the best course of action for diagnosis? by
Juls
Jasmine (age about 5-6 months) has been doing some panting after
strenuous exercise and so I've made an appointment to have her checked
for cardiomyopathy.
What I'm wondering is how is this diagnosed? The panting is her only
symptom, so I'm hopeful it's just that she doesn't know when to...

How to stop too many cats/kittens from driving you insane... by
John Doe
This is mainly for kittens. But my male cat enjoys chasing his tail,
so it might work well for him too. Currently, he needs the exercise.
I found a way to give my three kittens all the indoor exercise they
can handle. Basically, it's just extending their tail 6 or 8 inches
with a 1/4 inch thick...

compressed/canned air by

Another very strong deterrent, used responsibly of course.
Not suggesting there are many (if any) good uses, just that it
makes a serious impression.

Statistics and studies or the lack therof by
kaeli
I was sitting here wasting some time while I wait for some of my jobs to
complete and I thought it might be interesting and informative to do a
study on the two most controversial subjects out there right now in the
field of cat care - EAN and declawing.
There is a definite lack of good studies...

rock and a hard place by
minerva nine
So my 14 year old has IBD and needs hypoallergenic cat food. I've been
giving her IVD but recently discovered the parent company is involved in
animal testing, so I'd like to switch. My problem is that I can't find a
hypoallergenic food that is made by a company that *doesn't* do animal
testing. ...

My cat died last night. Heart attack? by
[email protected]
My sweet wonderful cat died last night. He has had a heart murmur for
years and I suppose that's what did it but I'm not sure. He was
perfectly fine. He was standing next to me in the kitchen begging for
food when he suddenly jumped up, crashed into a wall then keeled over.
He moaned very loadly...

ringworms by
Have a lovely affectionate INDOOR kitten named Nika. Only one real problem.
Somehow, somewhere she picked up ringworms. I'm about ready to give up.
Just when I think it's under control it seems to spread.

bony to me.
He passes a lot of gas and has smelly loose, yellowish...

Needd Good Home for Cats by
[email protected]
My family is very sad about this, but we must find new homes for our
cats. My wife has developed allergies, that over the lastg three
years have become so severe she is now on asthma medication.
We can't bear the thought of our 'children' being euthanised at a
local shelter. We found a no-kill...
