When your cat dies will you.... by Gloria
have it cremated or burry it? We have a funereal parlor now that does both human and pet cremations (not in the same machine). And also a cemetery is starting a place for cremated pets near the human owners......I like that idea. With regular pet cemeteries.....it may not always be a pet cemetery....

Skinny Cat by Lou B.
First of all, thanks to all who regularly post here! Especially to the person who responded to the question about kitty constipation - I got rid of the clay litter and my 19-year-old Kiki is doing much better! Now then, I have her on thyroid medication (overactive) and she is doing well after 3...

Elvis Update :( by ElvisRocks
I just got back from my vet & thankfully, my "real" vet was there but it's really bad news. He could feel tumors on his kidney and said by the bloodwork he appears to be in kidney failure. He kept him to put him on IV's and take xrays, etc. He's lost 1.3 lbs. in only 9 days. I can go visit...

New cat still hiding after 30 hours by [email protected]
I would not say I am worried, but just wondering how long this might go on and how I might coax new cat Destiny out of hiding: Picked my new 1 1/2 year cat up yeterday from the cat room at the Humane Society where she seemed fond enough of my petting. Took her for a vet exam and shots on the way...

YES!! Cat Killer Recalled by Karen Chuplis
http://www.journalstar.com/local.php?story_id=69553 They pulled their heads out and DID it. I really wasn't sure if they would because these small town people are rather afraid (as you can tell as most wouldn't say how they voted or are reluctant to say what they think) to go against "the popular...

High CPK enzyme, vomit, no appetite by [email protected]
My 13 yo cat Ginger has been vomiting and showing a lack of appetite for 2 -3 days. The vet checked her and ran a blood panel. All chem was normal except for an elevated (very) CPK enzyme. She has no other symptoms, is being social and even playing. The vet suspects toxoplasmosis. He is...

I posted this message at another cat newsgroup and got two helpful replies. I am posting it here (much larger) to see what else I can learn. I'm moving from my apt to another place across town in a week and will be taking my two cats, Dan-Dan (male, at least 12yrs old) and Whitey (female, around...

Indoor cats and declawing by [email protected]
With the risk of starting a war, I had not heard of declawing until I came on this site, we do not do this, as far as I know, in the UK. Also, we rarely keep our cats inside. It sounds barbaric to me, to pull the claws out of a cat, it would be like having your fingernails pulled out!

stressed-out cat by B Keene
Being a two cat family for the past 17 years, we has to put our oldest cat down ( after a long and giving life). Too fill the empty space, we adopted a 3 year old from the local SPCA. This really stressed out our 12 year old female, to the point that she wouldn't come out or eat. After one week we...

Three Way Cat Tunnel from Collections Etc. Might help Gabby & Phat Kat? by -Lost
I almost forgot! This looks neat. http://www.collectionsetc.com/Item76291.aspx Gabby and Phat Kat were playing for a moment tonight. Gabby was stuck inside a pillow case and Phat Kat was rolling all over it. Gabby kept pushing forward, Phat Kat kept rolling. Too cute! Maybe this would make...

Cat is limping by blkcatgal
My 16 year old cat began limping 2 days ago. He was fine in the morning and when I came home from work, he was limping on his front leg. I'm not sure how he may have hurt himself, if that's the case, but it may be that he fell or tripped on the basement stairs because when I came home from work...

Are chicken bones OK for cats? by ~Shelly~
I just read another poster mention giving her cat a drumstick bone to chew on. I used to give that to my cats, but a vet told me it wasn't good for them - he said slivers could become impaled in the mouth, throat, or even puncture the stomach or intestines. None of my cats had never had a problem...

Shouldn't cats clean themselves after using the litter box? by Morac
I picked up 2 young (~5 months) domestic short hair cats 3 weeks ago and they do periodically clean themselves, but they never seem to do so right after using the litter box. This becomes more of a problem when a cat is having soft stools as a small amount tends to stick around on the cat's rear...

My cat really is a bully by Justin L
It's not just my other cat Elwood either! I brought Jake with me over to the parents for Father's day. Well the parents have 3 dogs, and Jake knocked the snot out of all of them!! They tried to give him guff, but he gave them a might growl, and boxed them into next week. He was even chasing them...
