Cat Treats by Cheryl[_6_]
A vet suggested to me that I put food in those plastic balls with holes in them so that my rather large cats would get some exercise. I'm not sure that this was ever effective, since I put treats in them to increase the cats' motivation, and the cats seemed to expect the treats in addition to...

Paranoia strikes deep by [email protected]
I've been participating on this ng since 1999, and yet I don't feel that there is anyone here who likes me very much, or values my contributions. I don't know why that would be, though - I'm a genuine cat-lover, I respond to other people's posts, I have a good sense of humor, and I respect...

GOOD AND BAD NEWS by Renee Darvin
Hi, guys! Happy holidays to you all! Our pretty tree sits on a low table, which is covered by a green cloth, then a decorated tree skirt. But what is that sticking out from under the green cloth? Can it be a tail? Or is it a paw? Or paws? The answer to all of the above is YES! I wish I...

Hey that's mine! by Steve Touchstone
Dreary day here in SW OK, cloudy and rain off and on all day. A little while ago, during a brief break in the clouds, the sun came out for a few minutes. Little Bit wanted to check and see if any of the neighborhood cats on been around, so I decided I'd put on the girls collars and let Sammy and LB...

Another cat tail by Julie Cook
Seeing Nikki's tail photos reminded me that I had a cat tail tale I had intended to share. I've told you before that Lacey chases her tail. She is still finding her own tail fascinating but now she's discovered Hobbes' tail as well. She will lie next to him and watch as the very end of his tail...

Human Purr Request by Pamela Shirk
As most of you know, my husband, Rob, was retired from the army with brain cancer. The army has declared Rob as being 100% disabled, but the Veterans Administration, who are the people who ultimately pay Rob's bills, decided that Rob was only 30% disabled and send him $500 a month because he...

caught the mother by Ann
This morning we caught the mother cat. She is now in the cage with her kittens. They are now laying against their mother. The tiger kitten was purring when we first put the mother in with them. Last night DH was petting the kittens and this morning I was petting them. We think the mother was a pet...

Smokey doesn't understand by Bill Stock[_2_]
Actually Smokey is selfish, but what do you expect from a Kat. Grumpy old bill just had a knee replacement on Monday, which means I can't do some of Smokey's favourite things, snuggling on the floor, bathing on the floor, etc.. I've tried to tell her that dad hurt his knee and he can't bend...

Weather!!! by MLB[_4_]
As there appears to be no "cat talk" perhaps we can discuss the weather. Here in the Rockies, it is just like summer -- today. Don't know how long it will last. I heard one report about snow on the mountain tops. Best wishes to all. MLB

Merlin - Day 1 by Stacey
Got a wonderful surprise today!!! The foster paw of The Kitten came over and told me I could take him home today! Yeah! He's eating and drinking on his own, and using the litter box. The paw said that they kits rarely fed off mom anymore, anyhow. So he's home. He's so darn cute!!!!! The Moose and...

Gem Gets Real Toys by Annie Benson-Lennaman
Lenny and I were shopping for the necessities of life this afternoon. After stocking up on pudding, cheese, spinach and vodka, we found ourselves in the pet aisle. Standing in front of the cat toys. Our three adult cats don't seem to care that much for toys... they'd rather lounge on the cat...

OT question: avoiding shortening for cornbread? by Monique Y. Mudama
I've noticed the more authentic (ie, not in a "cooking healthy/ light/ lowfat/ etc" book) cornbread recipes always call for shortening to coat the pan. Would it be a disaster to use spray Pam or something instead? I just don't have much use for shortening, so I don't see the point of buying any...
