A cat's first winter bring a lot of anxiety... by
RPSinha
I am taking care of a cat, approx 1 yr old, for neighbors who are out
of the country for several months. During warmer days, she spent her
days in the connected yards including perhaps her own, came to us at
sunset, had dinner, went to sleep on our couch, woke up around 5AM,
demanded breakfast, and...

Avoiding Death from Dentistry by
[email protected]
Older cat, about 9 years, with URI, chronic, incurable, has had for
many years. Now needs dental work-has a toothache and has already had
several of it's teeth pulled with previous owner. What questions
should I ask in choosing a vet to work on this cat's teeth. What
preliminary bloodwork needs to...

Looking for a vet (in Chicagoland) able to treat felinehypothyroidism by
Alice[_2_]
Yes, that is hypOthyroidism not hypERthyroidism. Not that vets know
how to deal with hyper-t either... But I need the first one... A vet
who suffers from thyroid issues himself/herself is also OK. I am
getting a little desperate... Please help. I am willing to travel 2
hours from home if I can find...

Flycaster
Been using Tidy Cat cat litter (both regular and for closed spaces).
Works fine, but as far as cat's acceptance and clumping; however, still
getting a fair amount of tracking into the house. So, what can you guys
suggest for a clumping type litter that has real minimal tracking...

And now we are 3 by
Paul M. Cook
I have been caring for my father's cat, Jade, a chocolate tortie, since
February. I really came to like her in the last few months. She seemed to
take to me too. She has had a rough go of it what with stomatitus but the
depo kept it under control. She was diagnosed with squamous cell...

Poor Gabby, he ate some Ranitidine. by
-Lost
Poor Gabby, he ate some Ranitidine. As I shook one out into my hand it
fell to the floor and leave it to my pet tiger to leap on it and
swallow it in a flash -- it was odd to say the least, but the kind I
have don't have a nasty taste (at first) so I guess that was the green
flag?
Poor guy,...

Neutering leaves third testicle? Wait, what? by
Brian Link
Our cat Louis was neutered at an early age, as is the custom with
breeders currently, I understand. Six weeks, iirc.
At six years old, he gets very worked up when bedding down at night,
kneading the blankets, and then leaping on any exposed wrist as his
lover. He goes through the motions of mating...

Cali EGC update by
ElvisRocks
Well, we finally got past the 90 days so I could have her allergy
bloodwork done (had to wait til she had been off Depo shots 90+ days)...
they kept her overnite because she had to be sedated to draw the blood
(2 big vials!) and they gave her a bath because she gets so yukky from the
irritation to...

Alchol Breath Tester by
Richi
his little key chain gizmo is so small and portable and easy to use
that you can use it anywhere and test your alcohol levels in just
three easy steps and all in a matter of a few minutes. Just press a
button, wait for the light to glow green then breath into the pipe and
see the result. Green...

Small, southern hemisphere cat seen on Discovery channel,, can anyone ID? by
Brian Link
There was a show on Discovery or the History channel LATE last night.
It was ostensibly about trees, but they discussed the various wildlife
that live underneath the canopy.
Somewhere in a lower latitude they came across an elusive wildcat that
was pegged as "smallest in the world". Adults weigh...

Is there a better way to have cats put to sleep? by
somebody
I have two cats which are getting along in years. They both are
relatively healthy, but I know soon I will have to have them put to sleep.
Putting my former cat was the hardest thing I've ever done. My concern
is for my cats though -- I don't their last memory in life being a
traumatic trip to...

Update on RED's chin lump by
Psipsini
thank you all for you thoughts, advice, and kind wishes in response to
my post about RED's chin lump.
The vet thought that the lump could be chin acne, a cyst, or an
abscessed tooth draining. He put her on a dose of amoxicillin for a
week.
RED responded well! I could feel the lump get smaller,...
