(OT) Sleeping Better! by
jmcquown[_2_]
I got a birthday present for myself!
The old-timers to this ng know I've suffered from insomnia for years.
Valerian Root capsules seem to help. Melatonin tablets work but give me
very vivid sometimes disturbing dreams.
Years ago I had a "sound machine". I won a gift certificate from some...

Hihi this is O T Mahoney I am a fairly good looking Orange kitty, so I
have been told.
Gramby went to a carnival and bought some salt water taffy. The man that
went to the bridge couldn't have it so, she hasn't had any in years.
She bought it home and popped a piece in her mouth. DEN, you...

Skwirrel by
Bill Stock[_2_]
I was looking out the back door yesterday and there was a black squirrel splayed out on the deck sunning itself. I was surprised by how relaxed it looked. We don't have red squirrels here, just the larger black and grey squirrels. But this year we actually have a red squirrel and it's a real runt....

Poor Frank by
Marina
I took Frank to the vet last spring for a blood test to check his thyroid
level. I thought then that we wouldn't have to do that for a whole year,
because he was doing so well then. But, unfortunately, lately he seems to
have been losing weight. I can feel his spine when I stroke him, and...

Another reason to quit smoking by
Steve Touchstone
I was smoking up to between 2 and 3 packs a day, so decided it was
about time to quit. I told myself I'd quit on my BD, which was in
June, but didn't quite make it then. Finally stopped in July, and
haven't smoked since July 15th. (Not to say I went cold turkey, I'm
sucking on those nicotine...

Cat Rejecting Microchip?? by
John Ross Mc Master
An 11 year old cat who was microchipped 10+ years ago seems to be
rejecting the chip. Has anyone ever heard of this before?
The (edited) email I recieved is below.
I noticed a lump by Archie's "shoulder blade"...
days later he lost his hair there, the size of a palm!
So I took him in today.

said no very vehemently and Claire arrived here a bit late with claw wounds

Usual wowling all the way there from...

"stay away" by
ken
Does anyone have esperience with a sensor-device called STAY AWAY? If a
cat jumps on a table or counter, the sensor sets off a noise and a
blast of air?
Does it work and if so, where can you buy it?
Thanks

Home at last by
Christina Websell
At last I am home after breaking my ankle in a major way on October 16, so
severely it had to be plated and pinned. I was in hospital for 6 days
before they could operate because my ankle was so swollen, I learned from my
shoulder break to call for help immediately and an ambulance came with...

Purrs for Andy by
RBinCA
My male cat Andy has been suffering with minor diarrhea since Saturday.
I took him to the vet today, they did a fecal exam and found nothing
amiss there. So they gave me Metronidazole to give him. They also told
me to put him strictly on dry food until the diarrhea goes away.
Apparently the meds...

Crackles has Cancer by

The results of Crackles biopsy has came back and he has cancer. He has

cool cat trees thread by

So, I'm looking at cat trees online, even though shipping costs an arm and a

nervous, though, because I hate to spend a few hundred bucks on a cat tree
that Oscar might ignore completely.
Anyway, I'm assembling a list of...

"Emergency" purrs for an opera lover? by

I posted the following to my travel and opera newsgroups, who probably
can be of more help from a practical standpoint. However, given the
proven "power of purr", I figured it would do no harm to post it here,
too. I can certainly use all the help I can...

Leading Jill Outside the Box by

Jill,
I keep thinking we need to find you a way to make money that doesn't involve
interviewing with someone who will tell you no. That means thinking outside
the box.
The first idea I had was as a pet sitter. My pet sitter gets $25.00 when
she comes once a day and $40 for twice a day visits....

The Kittens and the Soldiers by

I listened to the news when I woke up this morning. It seems that some
Aussie soldiers had been out on the tiles and when they got back to camp
they had some fun with a cat and her litter of kittens.
First they urinated on them and then took a kitten and tied it behind a
vehicle and dragged it...
