[OT] Florida Purrs by
Jeanne Hedge
Purrs once again for all in the state of Florida. This morning's
forecast path for Hurricane Ivan (currently a stronger storm than
either Charley or Frances) has the state in the center of a
south-to-north track. They're already doing mandantory evacuations in
the Florida Keys.
Purrs also to...

[OT] Freaky dream by
Monique Y. Mudama
I woke up screaming last night because, in a dream, I got into my car,
started it up, and a dead, misshapen creature-thing slid from my roof
and landed with a crash on my windshield. As sometimes happens in
dreams, there was a sense of horror to the experience entirely out of
proportion with what...

[OT] fridge life of cooked mushrooms? by
Monique Y. Mudama
About a week ago we added sauteed green onions and mushrooms, as well
as grilled bell peppers and zucchini, to spaghetti sauce (the kind in
a plastic jar).
I was thinking that with no meat, it would still be good, but someone
told me that mushrooms go bad in 2-3 days.
Thoughts? Do I need to toss...

[OT] funny exclamation by
John F. Eldredge
A couple of weeks ago, I saw a ten-year-old boy in a restaurant knock his
drink cup over, spilling the contents. I was amused that he exclaimed,
"Wiener schnitzel!", which his family had evidently taught him to use as
a "swear word". Wiener schnitzel is an Austrian food, a breaded veal
patty,...

garlic when you need it is a PTA, we chopped lotsof it up in the
foodprocessor, put it in a glass jar, and added olive oil. The olive oil

[ot] Geranium Help by
Jeanne Hedge
Hello all,
Being a black thumb gardener who doesn't really know what she's doing,
I'm hoping (and fairly certain) there are people here who know
something about geraniums. I've read several things in books and on
the net, but I'm still confused as to where to deadhead my geraniums.
(nothing I've...

[OT] Germ Rant by
CatNipped[_2_]
Maybe it's just because I'm fighting off this grunge that has taken
possession of my lungs, sinuses and ears and won't vacate the premises no
matter what I've done, but I've become very attuned to TV commercials
advertising germ killing products (Lysol, Purell, etc.). I just watched
three in a...

[OT] Getting terrified by
Ginger-lyn
I'm in limbo on the apartment situation. I applied online over the
weekend, but have heard nothing.
The current landlord called me back today (I left a message Saturday).
It was not good.
I went through my concerns about the lease (well, actually, only some of
them before he cut me off). He...
