New cat still hiding after 30 hours by
[email protected]
I would not say I am worried, but just wondering how long this might
go on and how I might coax new cat Destiny out of hiding:
Picked my new 1 1/2 year cat
up yeterday from the cat room at the Humane Society where
she seemed fond enough of my petting. Took her for a vet exam
and shots on the way...

Scrathing Post Question by
JamesJ
Hi all. I have a 11 week old kitten called Darwin. I adopted
him 3 week ago.
Every morning he tares around the house and
"attacks" his scratching post (which is good). All of a sudden this morning
I noticed he never used the post but attempted to use
the arms of my couch. Any reason why he would...

Littermaid auto-tray: suitable for kittens? by
Tales of Orpheus
Hello,
I would be grateful if people could give me some advice.
1. I am shortly to adopt a couple of kittens and would like to allow
them and me the luxury of a Littermaid ("self-cleaning" tray operated by
an electric eye). However, maybe the Littermaid is too deep for a
kitten to get in and...

claw clipping frequency by
J1Boss
Skipjack is a blue tabby with the cutest white paws anyone has ever seen (trust
me!). He's 2. When I first adopted him at ~5 months old, I clipped his claws
regularly. I stopped, because his claws haven't been a problem - he only
scratches "approved" surfaces and is an affectionate cat who never...

Hiding Cat by
jimperrin
Hi:
About two months ago I got a "free-to-a-good-home" four-year-old tabby cat.
Ever since it arrived, it sits on a shelf in the basement and except for
nocternal eating rarely comes out.
It has been getting friendlier, craves attention, but does give me a fairly
vicious bite occassionally when...

old cat with carpet by
Robin
Hi there- I have a 17 year old cat who has never lived in an apartment
with carpet. We are moving to the East Coast and it seems like all the
places have carpet. So what can I do to keep him from scratching it
up, or worse, peeing on it. I thought about putting down an area rug
to protect their...

Just put "Soft Paws" on my cats by
P.D.
I just applied "Soft Paws" to 2 of my 3 cats for the 1st time today. I was
amazingly easy to do (with a little help from my wife). I was surprised at
how quickly they adjusted tot hem. They did not lick or bite at them and
have been going about their normal business for several hours now.
Good...

need e-collar advice to keep cat away from his tail by
Elizabeth Blake[_3_]
Friends of mine have a young male cat, around a year old, who managed
to do something to his tail in their apartment last week. They said
he was acting fine but one of them noticed his tail looked odd. They
brought him to the vet the next morning and it turned out he hurt his
tail really bad. I...

Possibly asthma? by
sasssykat
Have a kitten that is 5 months and she pants when she plays too hard.
So I read up and got concerned about HCM. Took her into the dr's and
did a chest xray - nothing out of place. Just did the ECG and they
don't see anything wrong with her heart. But they mentioned that it
could, maybe, possible...

Indoor cats and declawing by
[email protected]
With the risk of starting a war, I had not heard of declawing until
I came on this site, we do not do this, as far as I know, in the UK.
Also, we rarely keep our cats inside. It sounds barbaric to me, to pull
the claws out of a cat, it would be like having your
fingernails pulled out!

!!!!! DESPERATE FOR PROBLEM ACCLIMATION HELP !!!!! by
pirate
I'm appealing to the wisdom of the group in hopes of finding some
interesting thoughts/suggestions/solutions to
a problem which has been ongoing for about 2 years now.
I had raised my cat from tiny kitten stage on a sailboat I formerly
lived on for approximately 10 years. She grew
up to be a fine...

Skinny Cat by
Lou B.
First of all, thanks to all who regularly post here! Especially to the
person who responded to the question about kitty constipation - I got
rid of the clay litter and my 19-year-old Kiki is doing much better!
Now then, I have her on thyroid medication (overactive) and she is doing
well after 3...

Cat is limping by
blkcatgal
My 16 year old cat began limping 2 days ago. He was fine in the morning and
when I came home from work, he was limping on his front leg. I'm not sure
how he may have hurt himself, if that's the case, but it may be that he fell
or tripped on the basement stairs because when I came home from work...

stressed-out cat by
B Keene
Being a two cat family for the past 17 years, we has to put our oldest cat
down ( after a long and giving life). Too fill the empty space, we adopted a
3 year old from the local SPCA.
This really stressed out our 12 year old female, to the point that she
wouldn't come out or eat. After one week we...

One week and 3 days after introduction - more advice? by

So...
So I've had Marigold for a week and 3 days now. Marigold is getting
fustrated being cooped up in my room (and so am I because she is
Meowing at the early hours of the morning!). If I let whiskers in my
room, she tolerates Marigold as long as Marigold does not get within 3
feet of whiskers...

They pulled their heads out and DID it. I really wasn't sure if they would
because these small town people are rather afraid (as you can tell as most
wouldn't say how they voted or are reluctant to say what they think) to go
against "the popular...
