HELP- new kitten by
Kreisleriana
By a series of events I don't have time to report, poor Stinky's
territory has been invaded by an adorable 16-week old hoolikitten.
I thought this would go really well, but it is not. Hoolikitten is
now happily bouncing all over his new digs-- much as Stinky did 13
years ago.
But Stinky, my...

Ahh, Spring! by
Kreisleriana
It's over 60 degrees F. I can see crocuses and daffodils from the
window. Two black and white cats are sitting in the sunshine, the
gentle breezes making their little whiskers quiver. ;) Sunday we
begin Daylight Savings Time. We;ve made it through another winter,
folks (in the Northern...

Not like him, but like him by
Kreisleriana
Well, this is VERY unlike my Stinky boy-- and yet it's not. Let me
explain.
Stinky is the guy who worries about the litter boxes. He likes them
clean, and he likes it to be understood that it's *his* box, although
he will allow the little twerp to use them. Just as long as everybody
realizes...

A Well-Run House by
Kreisleriana
By the cats, that is, certainly not by me. I awoke this morning and
found four (4) used drinking straws in bed with me.

OT Pale Male and Lola Update by
Kreisleriana
NYC's famous couple of red-tailed hawks appear to have eggs in their
nest, according to this morning's news-- a real sign of spring. PM
and Lola did not successfully produce young last year-- probably from
all the disruption when their nest was removed in the winter of
2004-05. But they were...

OT Thames Whale by
Kreisleriana
Did anyone else see the story about that poor little whale swimming up
the Thames through London? They were trying to get it to deeper
water, and the poor thing died. THere was mention of a pod of whales
in the estuary, but how could one get through the locks??!! It's a
mystery. Anyway, mad...

New Words for the Dictionary by

asked to
supply alternate meanings for common words.
The winners a

OH @#$! by
Kreisleriana
I was playing with Dante, and I happened to look under his chin, and I
definitely saw something-- moving. Damn! As mundane as it may sound,
I have NEVER had a cat with any parasites before--- OK, a cat I had
when I was a kid had ear mites. But I have had no recent experience
with this. He was...

My Buggy Boys :( by

Well, both of them do have fleas, which Dante obviously brought in. I
wish I had spotted them a little earlier-- like BEFORE I BROUGHT HIM
HOME. Oh well, What's done is done. My heart is breaking for poor
Stinky who has never known such an indignity in all the years he's
lived here. They've...

Something in the way they move . . . by
Kreisleriana
Kittens, that is. I just realized that may be half (or even more) of
the ridiculous cuteness of kittens, is the way they move. They're so
agile and awkward, confident and tentative, all the same time. ;)

Dante is excited by
Kreisleriana[_2_]
Like some cats, Dante has a very low "poof" threshhold. It doesn't take
much to make his tail go "POOF!" When I came home from Florida, he was
asleep, and I went over to him. He opened his eyes, saw me, and POOF!!
He has a toy he paeticularly loves, his little turtle. It has special

OT Frank McCourt, RIP by

The best-selling author of "Angela's Ashes," Frank McCourt has died at 79.
He was my English teacher in my sophomore and junior years in high school.
He was the teacher who probably made most of an impression on me. He was an
extraordinary person, kind, thoughtful, insightful and lots of crazy...
