playing detective: how high can a cat pee? by Lyne
I just found that one of my critters has pee'd all over a stack of stuff in plastic baskets that was sitting on the hardwood floor in my dining room (ok, storage room). There was a plastic grocery bag on top of the pile at a height of about 18" that had pee puddled in its creases and there was pee...

Fat cat with a dirty butt.. suggestions.. by Brian Link
Henry's really taken to indoor life. Given our recent harsh spell of Minnesota winter, I figure we've already saved his life. He's the typical long-hair mutt with strong Maine Coon/Norway Cat indications - the same coloring, ear tufts, huge mane and footpad tufts. Since he's been adopted, he's...

Question on breeds by Mathew Kagis
My 6 month old kitten, Chablis, has gone through a REAL growth spurt in the last month or so. She was adopted from a shelter (&was scrawny & unhealthy when I got her). Is a tuxedo black & white, med hair, has curled fur extending from her ears (like a lynx) & has very long, slightly curved eyebrow...

My Current List of Qs + Comments for the Vet by Jean B.
Why was Mingy not put on the s/d diet first? (And, of course, Mingy has to eat in order for it to do any good.) Since the diagnosis of struvite crystals came immediately, does that imply there was just a microscopic examination of the crystals, which might miss something else in the composition...

Feliway helping on house-soiling?? advice needed. by FLEMMING
A year and 5 months ago we got a kitten from a local shelter. From day one it's been unclean, meaning ****ting and peeing outside the box, mostly this is taking place in the bathroom where he has two boxes. At some point he also started peeing in front of the front door, not very often though, just...

EARLY RISER by jimnjudy
Hi all. I have "inherited" a lovely 3yr old neutered male tabby. Wonderful guy, except he insists I get up at 3:30 AM. Not to feed him, just to play. If I lock him out of the bedroom he just screams until I get up. Anyone know a way to reset this cat's internal clock? Thanks in advance, Sleepy Jim

Nutri-CAT by David via CatKB.com
Hi, I've been posting about my cat - she has a 1.5 cm hepatic mass in the center of her liver..She has not been eating. I found out about Nutri-Cal through this site and I think it really has made a difference in her appearance.. She doesn't have that "gaunt" look..I give her about two 1 inch...

Laser use in neutering procedure? by Cheryl
I talked to our vet about the kittens neutering (it will be done at their next appt, in three weeks). I forgot to ask about their use of laser in the neutering procedure. What is it, and is this a common neutering procedure? The estimate of charges adds $50 for each kitten for "laser". -- Cheryl

A sad anniversary by ---MIKE---
It was five years ago today that my tuxedo cat IKE left the house and never returned. The house is surrounded by dense woods and undergrowth so there was no way to search for him. I "replaced" Ike with Tiger about a week later. Neither Tiger or Amber go out. They have never been out so don't...

Cats vs. new furniture by Artisanwomyn
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can have a new couch and of course keep my kitty who has a leaky bladder. Little guy was in an accident a few years back and has lost complete control of his bladder. He goes in his litter box but also goes wherever. He will piddle wherever he may be...

Changing litter pans by Ken Knecht
One of my cats is bad about peeing off the edge of her litter pan. Changing it often doesn't help. So I bought a much larger pan, thinking at her old age she was having trouble manouvering in the smaller pan. Question: Is she likely to resent the change of pans and not use it at all? It's a...

New cat food results! Merrick! by dgk
I've been keeping track of how my three cats react to various foods (all canned) since I want them to eat quality food and hate throwing the (expensive) stuff away. So I buy a bunch of different brands from the big local pet store and keep a pad by the feeding station (bathroom). As each food is...

changing cat litter need recommendations by ms. tonya
I've been using mostly Everclean brand litter with my two cats but want to change to a more heathy chumping with no dust. Odor is a major issue besides dust as we move the box from basement to dining room area during the winter months. Read about feline pine brand but am just not familiar with...

Eww what's coming out of kitty's bum? by I.P.Freely
I noticed yesterday that where my two 10 week old kitties sleep on the spare bed there is what looks like a load of rice on the duvet. This morning little Teal'c came over and said hello with his tail up and as he turned away I saw a white wriggly thing coming out of his bum. I grabbed some toilet...

Why do they sleep on my clothes? by Blastforth
My two cats have an entire large bed with comforter to sleep on. Why, however, do they invariably chose to sleep on whatever article of clothing I've laid on the bed (suit jackets, sweaters, whatever)?
