In memory of a friend. by
Bill Graham
I am very sorry to have to report that my favorite cat, "B-K" that I picked
up as a yearling in a Burger King parking lot on the day before Thanksgiving
in 2004, passed away last night at 11 PM. He died of liver failure from
something poisonous that he ingested, probably last Tuesday. Cats keep...

"Portrait" of Princess and Smidgin - just posted a photo of my painting by
MaryL
I have been taking oil painting lessons for 3 years. My idea when I started
was to have something special to look forward to when I reach retirement and
not become a "couch potato." I soon found that I love painting "right now."
I just finished my first attempt at painting cats. I looked through...

Is it o.k. to give cats "people" low sodium tuna by
deet
My vet has prescribed Hill's K-D food with chicken for my 8 year old
siamese cat. The only way I can get her to eat it is to mix in some
low sodium " people " tuna. I mix 1 part tuna to 2 parts K-D.
Is the tuna over-riding the benefits if K-D? And, what are the
benefits of K-D? Is there...

cat nuts for Altoids scent! by
MGW
Does anyone else have a cat who goes nuts over the smell of Altoids?
I have a friend who eats Altoids. When she comes over, my cat goes
nuts - he goes to her and starts nuzzling around her pockets very
persistantly trying to find the source of the smell. It's gotten to
the point that even if she...

Kitten heart beat and breathing by
Richard
It has been a while since I have had a kitten. My kitten is about 5
months old and I notice when she is sleeping that her breathing and
heart beat is very rapid. She has been to the vet and all is fine with
her - no underlying medical issues. She was spayed about a month ago.
So do the breathing...

Avoderm cat food by
Paul M. Cook[_2_]
Anyone have any experience with Avoderm for cats? I am being forced to
change cat food because APD is discontinuing their Select Choice which I
have been buying for over 20 years now. I am not sure I know what feeding
cats avocado long term would do. I just feel it is an odd...

Update - Good news, possibly bad news by
Snittens
Update on my cat Ana (see thread Contipation and vomiting).
It turns out that constipation is not the real issue here. The vet did
another Xray yesterday, which did show some smallish stools, but she said
that when she felt her abdomen, the stools did not feel hard, and that the
Xray actually...

HELP! Bite marks behind ear by
tomsheree
Hello. Any help will be appreciated. I have 5 cats. All have been
neutered/spayed. I have one cat (male) who is apparently being bitten behind
one of his ears. I haven't seen the culprit who is doing it to him. I am
giving first aid to him, and it starts to heal and then he apparently gets
it...

Scale to Weigh my Cats - recommendation? by
Teffy
I want to weigh my cats periodically. I have been shopping online for
baby scales and pet scales. I have found mechanical scales for $50 to
$60, and digital / electronic scales for $120 to $150 and up. My main
concern is getting an accurate weight while my cat is moving around on
the scale. ...

Long-term Consequences of Starvation by
FirstHit
There is a sweet cat I am interested in at the shelter. The cat looks
emaciated. She is sickly right now and is not very energetic, but she
is eating and I hope she will put on weight. If the cat gains weight
and starts appearing to be healthier, I wonder if she will be plagued
with health...

Female cat simulating spraying (ie: Happy Butt) by
Shawn
Hiya,
My calico and my black tomcat both go through the motions of spraying -
tail straight up, twitching near the base. They're all fixed. Although
Harley, the calico, did go into heat once before she was fixed.
I can understand this with my male, but a female cat doing this?
Any thoughts?

To stop cat from puncturing air bed? by
John Doe
Declawing is out of the question here in my house.
I know about clipping their claws. That is no problem.
I was thinking about covering the air bed with one or even two mattress
covers.
I guess that stuff will work, but I want to ask you all in case there are
methods not mentioned. I want to do...

declawed and non-declawed? by
piggypot
I have a friend who is about to adopt a kitten I've been fostering,
but I've made one of my conditions that she agree NOT to get the
kitten declawed. Her current cat is declawed (not by her) and she's
worried about there being a defensive disparity between the two.
I have one cat who is declawed...

Help: How to Lure a Cat Into a Pet Carrier by
Hilary JRP
I've set up one of those big collapsible cat carriers in my bedroom
for the past month, with one of Mrs. Sweet Cheek's pillows, her
brushes, and some cat nip.
The cat nip was the only thing that got her to go completely in to the
cage, but interestingly, the attraction wore off in a matter of...
