Introducing a new cat by
Captain Stupid
I have a cat who, although I love him to bits, is totally paranoid. He is
convinced that any new event is something terrible and runs away.
About 3 weeks ago I got a new cat. She is a small sweet-natured nuter who is
about as unintimidating as you can imagine. Unfortunately, Mr Paranoid
refuses to...

Cat suddenly pooping outside the box without reason by
Lashton
I just received the following e-mail from a friend of mine:
"My 10yo male cat (only one) has suddenly decided in the last 24 hours
that he wants to crap on my couch and my bed. I have caught him
"getting ready" twice. Thankfully I got him in time before he was able
to actually do it.
Nothing has...

Opinions on fatty liver/possible pancreatitis problem by
Underwood
We have a 6 yr old tabby who was recently introduced (February) to a new
member of the house, a maine coon mix from the local shelter. He
brought what appeared to be a cold home with him, which he transmitted
to Pnut. During most of February, she was dealing with the effects of
the cold or upper...

Kitty question by
MrAVenez
Hi all,
I have a 9 year old cat and she did something I was curious about that maybe
everyone could offer some insight on. This cat (her name is bandit) has always
liked to be perched above everyone else, looking down, like on the china
closet, the refrigerator. Last night, when we were all...

I cancelled it because I forgot until it posted that it was in a very sad

Feral neuter and release by
RobZip
In the county where I live, we have a county run animal shelter and a few
privately run rescue shelters. The county shelter is in a state of turmoil,
no full time director(original fired a year ago - interim director quit
after 3 months), a few former employees doing expose type interviews with
the...

Infected pads by
Alison
Hi,
I saw this on a forum and though someone here might know what it is .
* She has something that is making the very edge of her paws turn dark
and they are infected. The very centre of the pad is healthy with no
marking or afflication at all. This condition is affecting every foot
and just...

Serval Cat's Fate in Ordinance Limbo by

A friend just sent me this story. A family bought an African Serval
kitten two years ago and now the city is thinking about making them get
rid of it. It's...

of mice and cats by
Dennis Carr
OK, weird subject, but probably not what you think.
While at the optometrist today, my wife and I stopped by a local pet shop
where we purchased two mice and accessories for rodent keeping in our
apartment. Aside from my umbrage at how the little guys were treated by
the rodent handler (the moron...

I just woke up only to find that my 4 year old cat, Cherub, left something

maybe?) and is...

I just got my third cat about 6 mo old, I found her lost and all alone in a
parking lot and she has a very bad litter smell. My other 2 cats dont smell

Human food for cats ? by
Calvin Rice
In addition to things like Meow Mix and Purina Cat Chow available all day,
and Fancy Feast canned food three times a day, I give my cats some human
food as treats, or when they wont eat anything else. Gerber chicken and
turkey baby food, and the thin sliced deli chick or turkey. Are there
other...

help with possibly sick cat, please? by
CCR
I just picked my cat up and it's weird, there's this very obvious sort
of "pulsing" going on all through the middle of his body, heart to
stomach, as if he's breathing really hard but he's not breathing very
hard at all. I put him down and he's still doing it. He wasn't running
around or anything...

Question on collars by
blkcatgal
I leave the collars on 24/7. I only take them off when I have to (like when
my cat had surgery). I check often to make sure the collar doesn't get too
tight or loose and isn't causing any problems. So far, my cats don't seem
to mind wearing them though my 10 month old kitten still will try to...

when find kittens at shelter? by
quilterhusband
We went to the shelter today to adopt two kittens. We want two so we can
share them better in our family and so they will be happier when alone. but
there were no kittens there. Only older cats...and no bonded pairs which we
would consider too.
Is there a good time of year when to expect there...

drinking problem by

OK, I thought I'd run this by the fine minds in RPCH+B (this newsgroup):
I have a 14 year-old female, indoor only, neutered, whom I've had since
about 4 weeks of age. She has multiple health issues (hypertropic
cardiomyopathy, food allergy). On Feb 2nd I took her in for a blood panel
because she...

Did I read that correctly? by
RobZip
A crawl at the bottom of the screen on CNN this morning says North Carolina
is considering raising taxes on pet food as a means of reducing pet
overpopulation. My first reaction would be that it's about as misguided as
raising gas taxes to discourage consumption...
Anybody here got more background...

FAQ it? by
Dennis Carr
I've noticed something since joining this group.
Frequently, questions are asked about conditions that, while answered with
what it probably is, are also left with encouragement to take the animal
to the vet. Generally, a good thing, unless the cat is, say, coughing
(possibly dust inhalation,...
