Can a cat be taught the meaning of 'no'? by Calvin Rice
I don't mean yelling at the cat, but just saying 'no', and the cat obeying. Is it possible to teach a cat to stop doing what it is just starting to do if you merely say 'no'? -cr

Vacines due by [email protected]
Karryl wrote: I am trying my best to keep him well - if anyone has any suggestions just give a yell. I hope the l-lysine pre treat to the vaccine keeps the herpes from activating again. Why are you vaccinating if he gets so sick? I wouldn't vaccinate a cat that has such a bad reaction,...

Hills Science Diet Dental by Julie Koretz
Hi all Sorry to butt in, hope you might be able to help. My vet said that my ca, Jessie,t is now showing signs of slight gingivitis(she's 13 years) and is now going to have her teeth cleaned annually. She has been on a wet diet for all these years, and latterly a senior wet diet - well mixed...

Civilized? LOL by Niels Peter

Kitty likes to jump on the counter by Pamela
I've owned my cat for three months now. Before, he was simply too young to reach the kitchen countertop, so he'd clamber up on shelves every once in a while. Now he's a bit older and more agile, so my husband and I catch him up there quite frequently. I don't approve of this behavior as it is...

"rods" - what is it? by minerva nine
Greetings all -- My 9-month old kitten was having some diarrhea, so I took him in for a fecal exam and he has something the vet calls "rods." I'd like to do some research on it, but I don't know the name other than "rods." Does anybody know what this is? Vet tech said they get it from drinking...

Cats and guitars by FW
We've got two cats. One doesn't seem to mind my guitar at all, the other can't stand it and belts out of the room as fast as possible when I pick it up, even before I've started playing. (If she's asleep she wakes up and gets out). The funny thing is she doesn't seem to react to a recording of me...

Urine dye? by Paul Hurm
I have 3 cats. One (or more) has recently taken to urinating outside the litter box. I think I know which one it is but would like to be sure. Does anyone know of anything that can be given to a cat that will color its urine? This way I could give it to the cat in question and if the next...

Cat that doesn't knead by KellyH
Just curious, I have a cat that doesn't knead. All of my other cats knead, and any other cat I've had did. I got her at about 8 months old, don't know much about her life before that. She purrs and headbutts and likes to cuddle, just doesn't do the kneading thing. -- -Kelly kelly at farringtons...

possible temporary home needed for LA Maine Coone by Debbie Trujillo
This cat belongs to our next-door neighbor Bob. On June 15, I got suspicious when I noticed the newspapers piling up outside Bob's door because he would always let someone know when he was going away and his car was here. I mentioned my suspicions to another neighbor named Sunday so we went in...

laser pointer (makes cats INSANE)! by Sherry
I have discovered the greatest toy! You all probably already have one....Petco sells laser pointers and they are fantastic. I feel a little bit cruel...she's never gonna catch it...... :o) -jen Be careful not to shine the laser in your kitty's eyes, though. There's been much controversy over...

two year old starting to hiss by Ditch
I have 5 cats. Started with two, but got to the boy kitty a day to late. Anyway, Tigercat, the father, has just recently started to hiss at all the other cats when they get within about 5 feet from him. He has been with these cats since they were born and (to my knowledge) has never done this...

Hi, I am just wondering if anyone out there might be able to give me some insight on my cat's problem. Oreo is a shorthair tuxedo cat. He is almost 11 years old now. Lately I have found that he hair on his back near the tail get really lumpy. I tried to give him baths, and brush him, those lump...

Update was taking a cat in by Sharon
So, I took Stranger Cat to the vet after work today to check for a microchip (the vet I went to doesn't charge for the service), thanks to those who suggested it. Can you believe that she didn't have one? Unfortunately yes. Most pets chipped at our practice are dogs. If the HS doesn't...
