Amber's back home - or is she? by ---MIKE---
Amber had her dental work today. I picked her up about 4 PM but when she got home, she ran and hid. Now, if I try to approach her, she still hides, and growls and spits. This is not like her at all - she is usually very mellow. Despite not having any breakfast, she won't eat anything. I'm...

Right over left! by ---MIKE---
I brought this up last month. Both Amber and Tiger frequently lie on their tummys with the paws out in front. They are usually crossed and it is always the right paw over the left. Has anyone else seen this? ---MIKE---

Pet Supply catalog by ---MIKE---
I don't know where they got my name but I just received a nice catalog that lists many of the things that pet owners need. They have Wellness and Felidae foods, Adams products, Frontline, and Advantage. They also have grooming equipment. They are called Care-A-Lot Pet Supply and are at...

PLEASE END THE "POLL" THREAD by ---MIKE---
This thread is clogging up the group (over 300 posts now). This discourages people from posting as well as lurking. At the very least, give it a new subject. ---MIKE---

Food recommendations-PHIL by ---MIKE---
Phil, you recommended several super market foods recently. Were they regular Friskies or Fancy Feast (or both)? ---MIKE---

Picture of Amber by ---MIKE---
I think I've found a way to send pictures without a web site. Here is a picture of Amber. http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/View?u=1777604&a=13746147&p=71529510&Sequence=0&res=high ---MIKE---

Picture of Tiger by ---MIKE---
This is a picture of Tiger in one of his typical poses. I don't know his lineage (shelter cat) but he looks like a Maine Coon to me. He also weighs over 20 pounds but he has a very soft and rapid purr and his meow is soft too. I'll send a more flattering photo when I get...

Mad man Tiger by ---MIKE---
Tiger is still mad. All I have to do is look at him and he growls and spits. This is a result of a vet visit. He got his Purevax rabies shot and then was anesthetized so they could give him a good butt trim. They also gave him an ear flush. It takes him a long while to get over the anesthetic....

Crossed paws by ---MIKE---
Both of my cats (Tiger and Amber) frequently lie on their stomachs with their paws crossed. It's almost always with the right paw over the left paw. Have any of you noticed this? ---MIKE---

Strange eating habits by ---MIKE---
For years I have been using Melmac cereal bowls to feed the cats their canned food. A few weeks ago I switched to small, flat dishes (also Melmac) thinking that the sides of the bowl might "tickle" their whiskers while eating. Tiger had the habit of taking a chunk of food out of the bowl and...

Tiger had a rough day by ---MIKE---
Tiger (4 1/2 year old Maine Coon (?)) had accumulated too much hair etc (!) around his butt so he had to go to the vet for a trim. He did not cooperate and got more and more violent, finally getting away from us and hiding under a cabinet. The only way the vet could get him out was to put a fish...

Tiger had diarrhea by ---MIKE---
Tiger has had very soft stools for several days now. I think the problem has been corrected by adding acidolphulos powder to his canned food. I don't know what caused it. Amber has been fine. Tiger is an inside cat and there are no plants that he can get to. There have been no changes in food....

Cleaning hummingbird feeders by ---MIKE---
My well water contains a lot of iron. Bleach reacts with this water - especially when it's hot and causes a brown stain on everything. For this reason, I prefer to use vinegar to clean my feeders. What ratio of vinegar/water is recommended? When I make nectar, I don't use the well water. I use...

Tiger's diarrhea by ---MIKE---
Tiger's ultra soft poops were not getting better so I figured the Acidolphulis was no longer potent. Sunday I bought a new jar (which was kept in the health food store refrigerator). That afternoon I added some to the food. This evening he presented me with a perfectly formed poop (in the litter...

Amber is becoming a pain by ---MIKE---
Amber is going to be ten next week. She has just recently started a new "habit". It started about three weeks ago. She comes into my room and jumps up on my bed about 4:30 AM. She then proceeds to slowly go up the left side, across my pillow, down the right side and across my legs and keeps...

Dental cleaning - how often? by ---MIKE---
Amber had her first dental cleaning last October at age 9 (after losing one of her fangs). I just got a "reminder" from the vet that she is due again next month. Are yearly dentals really necessary? Amber HATES to travel and the procedure is expensive. I would prefer to wait if it isn't really...

How do I "set back" Amber? by ---MIKE---
Tonight we set the clocks back one hour. My problem is that Amber usually wakes me up about 5AM. That's OK because I usually get up about that time. Tomorrow (and for the next six months) what Amber thinks is 5 will actually be 4. I DON'T want to get up that early. I will explain this to her...
