Surgery is complete by Snittens
Ana had her surgery. The vet removed 3 inches of intestine, she said (I'm hoping I remember this all correctly) that basically about 2" of her intestine was almost non-functioning, so that had to go, and then she took half an inch on either side. She also did find some old feces in the colon...

Bloodwork update on Peewee and Mimi by -L.
Got the bloods back for Peewee and Mimi. Pee's T4 was marginally high (2.6), so we ran the free-T4 test and it came up marginally high again - which is *exactly* what it was in 2003, so I think he probably just runs marginally high. All other tests were ok. His WBC was sligtly low, but that...

One Final Question About a Blockage by MoMo via CatKB.com
Hello everyone. I had a kitty that blocked the Friday before last. I have been posting about it frequently on here with great help from everyone. He was doing pretty good last week, although not peeing in amounts that I was thrilled about, but, the vet said that as long as he was peeing,...

Monday morning Luna update by Kitkat
Hi all, Luna is about the same as she has been since Friday. She is still sneezing and seems pretty lethargic, though she does get up to eat, drink and use the litter box. I just spoke with the vet and the results of her blood tests were normal except for one thing. Her red blood cell count was...

Steroid injections for colitis by Anny Middon
Our cat, Rita, has colitis. In the past when she's exhibited symptoms we've gotten oral medicine from the vet. Lately we haven't bothered doing this since the time it takes to clear up seems to be the same with and without the medicine. The vet has had us try her with nutritional supplements,...

Something under chin by AK
I don't know where to even start explaining this. I have noticed over the last few weeks that my cat has what looks like black grit on his chin. At first I thought it was flea dirt (even though I use frontline) but I combed him and there was no fleas, he has been re-treated and but he still...

Lilly's Bladder infection... by bnh0728
Inside/Outside cat. Vet told my wife to keep her inside for a week, while we administer oral meds 2/day. Keeping her in one room w/litter and food/water, so she doesn't pee everywhere else. Any suggestions on how we can make her more comfortable there? Thanks

Was there Really a Holocaust? by LC
Was there Really a Holocaust? The Holocaust has become the greatest instrument of sympathy which any nation has ever been able to use to gain support for wars, expansion and foreign-aid: This has made Israel the world's sixth strongest military power. The gravest threat to all this wealth and...

Crepuscular Creatures by cybercat
Gracie is the most fun when I stay up too late or get up too early--because cats are most active at dawn and dusk. For her, the couple of hours before dawn are when she is Crazy Cat, doing acrobatics and getting that wild look in her eye. Whipping her head all around and doing Monkey Cat on the...

Gerbil Stuffing by LC
Gerbil Stuffing While discussing a gay acquaintance recently, my friend Mary, a nurse, lauded him by adding, "and he's no damn gerbil stuffer either." When I protested that she should not perpetuate cruel stereotypes of our homosexual brethren, she informed me that she personally had witnessed a...

best magnetic cat door? by Maxine G
Hi. I just adopted two cats. They are indoor/outdoor, but of course we're keeping them indoors initially until they get used to being here. Can someone recommend a particular brand of magnetic cat door? We have raccoons in the neighborhood who would love to come in, so we can't use just a plain...

Found out what's wrong with Ana by Snittens
Ana had the ultrasound today, and we finally know what's wrong. She has a dynamic bowel obstruction (I think that is the correct turn). A section of her intestine is working intermittenly, which explains why she fine for a few days, and then sick again. The vet thinks it might be from when...

Adding new male cat to the household by hamilton
We have a 7-month-old male kitten. When we got him, we had hoped to train him to be a lap cat, but he only loves to play, not to cuddle. He will sleep on the floor near us, but doesn't like to be in a lap. Meanwhile, an 11-month old male cat has arrived at the local shelter. This cat is VERY...
