Person adopts kitten from shelter later returns it saying it "got big" by stonej
True story. A person adopted a kitten from the local Humane Society but later returned it saying they didn't want it anymore since it got "big". Well hello!! Little kittens are awfully cute that is for sure but they do grow into adult cats, they don't stay kittens forever. What a world.

Help! First-time cat owner has yucky-eyed kitty! by Hazelbee
Hi, I've never posted before, but I am very worried! I took in a young kitten we found on the side of the road. It looked a mess, but I thought it would be okay after a good bath. It's now two days later and the kitten's eyes continually run, her face and paws and forelegs are covered with...

what stresses your cat? by Lynne
I've been really fortunate with my cats, with the exception of one who died at a very young age. Now that I have a kitten who may have FHV, I am interested to know what stresses out your cats so I can try to avoid stressing out my Levi. My older cat, Rudy, is extremely easy going in every way. ...

Spayed female with enlarged nipples by Mike S.
I have a 2 y/o female cat that was spayed when she was 10 months old (she was a stray). Recently, I noticed that her back two nipples are bigger than the rest. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she was pregnant, but she can't be. She is slightly pudgy and has had weight problems since she was...

Food Untouched by Ruby Tuesday
I always give my Siamese cat the best food I can get my hands on. Every weekend he gets Wellness crunchies as a treat, which he loves. He loves this so much in fact, that after it's gone, and I give him wet food, he usually lets it sit....and sit. Last time this happened, the wet food sat in his...

Saying Goodbye To Jason by Paige
On Sunday, my husband, Michael, and I spent most of the day alternating between crying and remembering Jason, a cat I found half-starved and scrounging for food in September of 05. He was the most affectionate cat we've ever seen, preferring my lap while I was working and a comfy spot between us...

the situation is this: I have one overweight cat and one skinny kitten that needs calories. the overweight cat has a "low cal" prescription food and the kitten has another. - they have separate bowls, and get their food at the same time in the hopes that if they eat at the same time they'll eat...

Importance of diet with kidney problems by The Other Mike
We recently found out our 16 year old cat has high creatinine and BUN levels. Phosphorus and other blood levels are in the normal range and urine s/g is at 1.017. Since having him on SubQ fluids, the creatinine levels have dropped from 5.7 to 5.2 and BUN from 57 to 42. We're now trying to get him...

Predator or prey? by [email protected]
One of my cats seems to have absolutely no fear of any animal it encounters, but is incredibly shy and timid around people. It is an increidbly beautiful and loving cat, about three years old. He has been neutered, but I feel that somehow the 'wild' hasn't been taken out of him that much! He still...

White cat's health - outer ear problem? by The High Council
Hi guys, I am a little concerned about my cat 'Babs' as she is a white haired cat and I have noticed that she has some kind of 'rash' or 'crusty lumps' on both her ears (the exterior pink areas). I have heard that you have to watch out with sun burn on white cat's ears, although Babs doesn't go...

how long can viruses lay dormant on objects? by Maxine G
Hi. I'm about to adopt cats for the first time. I'm looking to get some used paraphernalia like litter box, carrier and scratching post. Would it be possible for my new cats to catch FIV or leukemia from these items if the cats who used them had the viruses? How long will the viruses be viable...
