Old Cat by
Conrad
Our cat is almost 21 years old and has always been in good health. She
is now showing signs of age, being less agile when jumping up to my lap
and she has some tremor, her head shakes sometimes. She also sleeps a
lot more than usual.
She eats a little and sometimes is very fussy - ignoring some...

Old cat can't keep any food down? by
zhenzhen
Hello, I'm fairly new here but I just wanted some advice about my 16 year old cat Spot? He's still quite a mobile, vocal cat but he's unable to eat pretty much anything without throwing it up a few minutes later; have tried Fancy Feast tuna, Dine, Whiskas wet food, and just plain old Coles brand...

old cat don't like dirty litter box? by
peter
I read somewhere that old cats don't like dirty litter box. This seems to be
confirm by my own 19 year old cat's behavior. She now goes to bathroom a few
feet from the litter box if it is not clean.
So, why is it that old cats don't like dirty litter box??

Old cat question. Chronic renal failure and epilepsy by
Maj. Richard H. Blount (OHMR Ret.)
Good Morning,
I couldnĀ¹t find an answer easily on the internet, and found this group. I
hope someone here may have experienced this.
My Cat 'Eloise' is/was a beautiful tortoiseshell tabby and is just now 18
years old. She has been suffering from chronic renal failure for about the
past year and...

Old Cat questions by
Blastforth
My dad's cat is at least 16 years old. He doesn't seem to be in any
distress but all the hair on his belly fell out, and the skin on his
lower abdomen is droopy (maybe he needs a little kitty truss). And he
seems to be a little on the thin side.
He's done surprisingly well as an indoor/outdoor...

Old cat sneezing by
[email protected]
Hi everyone
I have just subscribed to the group.
I have a question about my 15 year old cat. This morning D.C. started
sneezing and it's this gross, green mucus.
His eyes look runny and his nose is crusty.
It's Sunday, so there are no vets open and tomorrow I have to be out
of town from 8am on.
Is...

Old Cat Sneezing...update by
[email protected]
I have called the after hours clinic. A vet was supposed to call me
back, but hasn't.
I am going to call again.
D.C. doesn't seem to be getting any worse.
He's still acting like his old self...but he's very mucousy.
Thanks for all of the responses.
Off to call the vet again.

Old cat still hates new kitten (4 months on) by
Lobster
We've had our 6-yr-old cat (neutered male) since he was kitten - he has
always been the most easy-going, placid and affectionate cat you could
hope to come across. Last December we got a 3-month old kitten (a
female, spayed at 6 months), and not unsurprisingly, the older one was
not at all...

old cat with carpet by
Robin
Hi there- I have a 17 year old cat who has never lived in an apartment
with carpet. We are moving to the East Coast and it seems like all the
places have carpet. So what can I do to keep him from scratching it
up, or worse, peeing on it. I thought about putting down an area rug
to protect their...

old cats coat by
Kelly40
I have a 21 year old red tabby cat. He is in generaly in good health
considering his age. My problem is his coat. It looks terrible since he
no longer takes care of it. It looks greasy and dull and it mats
easily. Bathing and brushing don't help very much.
Does anyone know of a supplement or a cat...

Old friends, new enemies by
Rebecca Root
Sorry, but this is a rehash of something I think I posted earlier this
evening. I'm dealing with a new newsreader, and I'm not sure the
message got posted - it didn't show up in my reader. I'll cut to the
chase:
My cats Riley and Sukey have been best buddies since kittenhood, 4
years ago. 3 days...

Old healthy cat howling early morning -- owner can't stay awake duringday! by
AA
I see that his has been posted and discussed a lot, but I've not seen
much in the way of solutions...
Our cat is 18 years old and just got a clean bill of health. No kidney
failure, no hyperthyroidism, etc. The only thing the vet noticed was
that her stool is pretty hard. At his recommendation...

Old People by

I get sick of the horrible stereotype that cats are for old ladies.
Growing up I always had both cats and dogs. Today I live in a one
bedroom apartment with my two cats Scruffy and Ruffy. My cats are
cool, they sometimes cause me grief but I take good care of them. I
also like dogs. There is no...

older cat by

I have an older cat (we got her from a shelter 8 years ago and they didn't
know how old she was), who seems to be having some trouble jumping. Jessie
can still get up to chairs, but higher jumps are just not happening. I also
have two 2 year old males who seem to have fun chasing her and trying...

older cat by
gilligan
My small gray cat is nearing 10 years but still leaps from the terrace
railing, 12 feet up, to the roof, about 20 feet off the ground. It scares
the daylights out of me every time. It seems she almost doesn't make it but
her claws catch and sometimes slip a bit before she pulls herself on up....

Older Cat (Hopefully Arthritis?) by
AMc in CA
My almost 17 1/2 year old feline companion is generally in good health
(confirmed by the vet within the past year). This summer he periodically has
trouble walking, but it usually only lasts for a few minutes to a half hour or
so (depending on what he's doing). Lately he periodically has trouble...
