Behavioural problems... by missToni
I'm fostering a cat for a friend right now. He split with his wife, she's suddenly developed severe allergies to the poor creature, and I offered to look after him (the cat) while he sorted his life out or found another home for him. Well, the cat has displayed some disturbing behaviour (he's...

Maintaining Weight by LauraM[_2_]
Now that Hobbes is back to his ol' self, I've got a new problem. His weight. He's always been a relatively good sized cat since he's part Maine Coon at around 15-16 pounds. He used to eat Hill's Prescription T/D and I knew how much to give him to maintain his weight, but now that he's eating wet...

Feline oncologist - Philadelphia area by vox_dea
My 16-year-old female has just gotten a diagnosis of fibrosarcoma after a cyst removal from her back. My understanding is that most vets recommend a biopsy first (before surgery) so that they can determine how much tissue to remove. Well, my vet removed the cyst and _then_ biopsied it. So now...

How do cats know? by Rona Y.
Putting freshly washed and folded sheets in the linen closet. Walk away to get more stuff, and when I try to put more sheets in, I see a pair of eyes staring out at me. Kitty has managed, in just a few minutes, to make a bed out of my freshly folded sheets. Kitty's asleep on the bed in my room. ...

Sleep twitching by Mike[_4_]
We recently adopted a 6 month old male who is the most good natured thing. My previous cat was very easily awakened when someone walked by or touched him and his ears would twitch at sounds even when it seemed he was mostly asleep. THIS cat sleeps like a rock! He doesn't seem to notice sounds...

I think my cat had a stroke by James Egan
My cat Chip who has hyperthyroidism seems to have a stroke. I was going to have the radio iodine therapy, but it may be too late. He's very disoriented, and going outside the litter box. He is able to walk around, and did eat and drink some. I also gave him some canned chicken, and place water...

Cats prefer to nap with company? by John Doe
Anybody else notice that cats enjoy waking up (like from a nap) to company? My feral female sometimes cries a bit when she wakes up without being near the male. -- my cats on their skyway http://www.flickr.com/photos/27532210@N04/3190773594/

Opinions on ear-thermometer accueracy by Poe
Hello. I have a sick cat who I've been monitoring vitals several times daily (he's been sick or going on 2 weeks now, in and out of the vet, tests, IVs, etc. - still working thru it). I have trouble using a rectal thermometer without help holding him, so when I am alone I've been using an...

Hope exists for cats with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) by catguy262
My wife and I have been caring for two FIV+ cats for the past three years now, and I'd like to share some information that we hope will help others. Cats with FIV can enjoy a very high quality of life, and for a very long time, if they receive good care. Unfortunately, many vet clinics (our former...

I give up. by James
I'm starting to put the lid down on the toilet. She makes my skin craw insisting on drinking from the toilet instead of the water bowl. She's almost in the bowl to get to the water. She's too lazy to go to her water bowl.

Cat's fur won't grow back by June[_2_]
My male cat age 7 had his tummy shaved last August when he had a urinary tract problem. The vet had to put him under to get crystals out of his bladder. The procedure was successful but the fur has not grown back. He only has like a peach fuzz on his tummy. He's an indoor cat so it's not...

Skunked trap by Wendy
Anyone know if there's some way to get the smell of skunk out of a live trap? We loaned out one of our traps and the guy got a skunk. Now no self-respecting cat would go in there and I didn't know if there was a way of getting rid of the smell or do I need to toss the trap and buy new. Wendy
