Cat returned to Humane Society after one day because...... by
stonej
it jumped up on a table and that was a no no according to the new
owners.
Good grief, what do people expect a cat to be doing? Cats love to
explore and jump up to
elevated postitions, it is all a part of being a cat.
I hate to think what these people would do if they had a baby, return
it to the...

Blind Kitten advice. by
Njwatcher
Hi. Last week upon returning home I found a 7-8 week old blind,
dehydrated, 1lb 2oz kitten. It was below zero out and I was not about
to leave her outside. Been to the vet twice and probably the states
best pet optomologist (sorry for bad spelling). Apparently her mother
must have been ill during...

Depression in Old Cat After 1st Vet Visit in Years by
[email protected]
Hello. I've posted here once or twice before about an old cat I
inherited. All I knew about her when I inherited her was that she had
been spayed and given initial shots (rabies, distemper, leukemia) when
she was saved from the streets by my sister in 1994.
One of you was *so* nice and called my...

Hills Prescription Diet by
Michael B Allen
At one time our cat (Mozart) had a little problem with holding down
ordinary food so the vet sold us Hills Prescription Diet Feline W/D
and we've been buying it ever since (several years). Do you think it's
necessary to keep buying this food? Is there any harm in continuing to
give this food to our...

Still don't know if my cat's sick. by
jmc
So, Meep had a mild cystitis attack recently. She'd continually go to
the litterbox, do nothing, but without the distress and urgency of
previous attacks where she had crystals and was blocked.
Recently, she's lost some weight as well.
Blood tests showed slightly elevated glucose, slight liver...

"Portrait" of Princess and Smidgin - just posted a photo of my painting by
MaryL
I have been taking oil painting lessons for 3 years. My idea when I started
was to have something special to look forward to when I reach retirement and
not become a "couch potato." I soon found that I love painting "right now."
I just finished my first attempt at painting cats. I looked through...

Another benefit of Astroturf... by
John Doe
Cats enjoy clawing on it. Apparently does not hurt the Astroturf,
yet. So it gives them good clawing exercise. My indoor cats have been
doing it for many months. Just noticed the outside (neutered) cat
claw on some Astroturf that's on the porch. They are attracted to it
for that purpose.

Angus passed away last night by
Debra Berry
Thank you everyone for you purrs and prayers
for Angus. He passed away in his sleep last
night while still at the emergency vet. They
haven't been able to determine exactly what
he had, but suspect a neurological problem or virus.
Angus developed tremors yesterday. They will
be doing an autopsy...

Mixing Rice with Canned Cat Food by
Randabana
I'm trying to reduce my two cats calorie and fat intake. The Vet says
they are healthy but could lose a pound or two.
Does anyone have any experience with adding cooked rice to canned
food? How much rice is enough - what's the correct ratio rice/cat
food?
Currently I am giving them Science Diet...

Dry cat food in a Hot car by
Mike S.
How long is it safe to keep dry cat food in a hot car?
I need to get more dry cat food at the store, it would be more
convenient to pick it up first rather than last. If I pick it up first,
it will have to sit in the hot car for at least 2 hrs. I wouldn't think
it would be any longer than 3 hrs...

doesn't want to go for a walk outside anymore by
SPillus
Hi, I'm new here. I'm feeling very worried and I'm hoping someone can shed some
light on this. Over the past month or so my kitty hasn't wanted to go outside
for her usual walk around the yard. Even with my coaxing her with treats, she
turns right around to go back into the house.
Her background:...

Trembling cat - trembles while purring by
[email protected]
I have a cat who is about a year and a half old. Sometimes when she's
curled up on my lap, purring away, she trembles. It's the kind of
trembling a cat does when scared, like at the vet's.
Is this a sign of a problem or is it just her quirk? It only seems to
happen when she's really happy and...

Is there a real vet in this group? by
BuZZard
Just wondering if there was a real pet vet
in here.. or.. are you all just playing doctor?
And as far as *this* group goes... I think
some of you are pretty cool.. but most of
you are arrogant ****s. The name of this
froup is called news:alt.pets.cats.health+behav
So basically, you want the cat...

Cat and cat grass by
Paul O.
Does anyone really know what grass does for cats? I know that a dog will
chew on grass to maybe settle a stomach and probably for other reasons, so
maybe the same for cats. Our cat seems to want it regularly, begs for it.
Won't leave me alone till I go get him some. I have some growing in a...

Update - Good news, possibly bad news by
Snittens
Update on my cat Ana (see thread Contipation and vomiting).
It turns out that constipation is not the real issue here. The vet did
another Xray yesterday, which did show some smallish stools, but she said
that when she felt her abdomen, the stools did not feel hard, and that the
Xray actually...

I had to pass this on by
Phil P.
The woman in the video found this wounded lion that almost died in the
jungle. She took him to her home and took care of him until he got better.
When the lion rebounded, she called a zoo and made some arrangements for it
to be taken away and to provide a new home, where it could continue to...

declawed and non-declawed? by
piggypot
I have a friend who is about to adopt a kitten I've been fostering,
but I've made one of my conditions that she agree NOT to get the
kitten declawed. Her current cat is declawed (not by her) and she's
worried about there being a defensive disparity between the two.
I have one cat who is declawed...
