Arm & Hammer Essentials litter by
John Doe
Available at the local megastore here. Just started using it. If
you have been around grain silos, you might notice a strong
distinct odor from the corn, but it goes away. Seems to do a good
job. Does not clump as hard as clay. Probably not nearly as much
dust, but I cannot imagine how anything can...

Dry and wet -- one cat's experience by
Stan Brown
I do not want to restart the debate on dry versus wet food,(*) but I
thought some might be interested in my experience.
From age 1 (when I adopted him) to 2, Milo ate Purina Indoor, as
recommended by the shelter where he lived for a couple of months.
(The vet was okay with that.)
At his...

Covered litter box, love it by
John Doe
I was having trouble with my feral female throwing litter out of
the box. There are plastic grass doormats under the area that
catch litter, but the amount was ridiculous. I tried restricting
the edges of the box, but she found a way over that. So I went to
the local megastore and bought a covered...

cat with diaorrhea - but only when she goes outside by
Mike Scott
An odd one here.
We have two cats (mother - about 6 years old - and daughter); both
normally go out, both eat the same food (dry kibbles - neither will
touch wet food) which they've been on for years.
The mum has lately developed a problem with diaorrhea. But this only
seems to occur when...

Feral Kitty by
Max[_2_]
It has been quite a long while since I have been able to post here. I
have no idea why, I believe it had something to do with Google
changing things around. I generally view these threads via google
groups.
Some of you may or may not recall that I took in a feral cat this past
February.
Anyway,...

A poem by
Bill Graham
From a cat........
When humans die, they make a will
To leave their homes, and all they
Have to those they love.
I too would make a will, if I could write.
To some poor, wistful, lonely stray
I'd leave my happy home,
My dish, my cozy bed, my cushioned chair, my toy,
The well-loved lap,

Catheter removed - recovery questions by

Our 4 year old had a catheter for urinary blockage. We brought him
in early Wed morning...he had the catheter from then until Thursday
around noon. The vet watched him for 24 hours and we took him home
Friday evening. The problem now is whenever he has to urinate, he
goes in the box....a...

Tendon Injury by
tomcraig5
One of my cats came limping into the kitchen a few days ago, holding
his right, rear leg in the air, seemingly unable to put weight on it.
The local vets thinks it's a badly strained tendon in the hip region,
and I'm trying to find something to aid his healing process and make
him more comfortable....

Tramadol - preliminary results by

So Meep has been on Tramadol for about a week now. The good news is -
it's working... sort of. The immediate result is her litterbox habits
have improved tremendously. She has completely stopped sitting in the
box but peeing over the edge! She is able to squat and pee normally, so
she does...

Disappearing lump by
[email protected]
Moe is a neutered male, about ten years old. Lately he's had a
persistent URI with runny nose and sneezing. Oral meds didn't help, so
last week the vet gave him an antibiotic shot. During the weigh in, we
found he was down from 10 pounds to 8 pounds since January (six
months). The vet suggested he...

Can kneading be a sign of pain or unhappiness? by
Lenny J.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I have a cat with a tumor. She has
gone downhill quite a bit. I'm now having to decide what to do. One of
the things that is throwing me off is how she sometimes briefly kneads
me. It might only be just once or twice that she does it, usually when
she sits on my lap....

Inappropriate elimination by
jmc[_2_]
Meep (14 years old now) did something alarming today - she pooped in her
travel box. In all the long years I've had her, she's never
*deliberately* pooped outside her box, though she has done so
accidentally a couple of times (while coughing up hairballs, from the
evidence).
She's also peed a...
