Tragic Mistake by Mary
Unbelievably, my friend took two eight-month-old rescue sister tabbies in to a Central Florida vet to be spayed, and when she returned for her babies they had declawed one of them. The vet called tonight and told her he will do "whatever it takes" to make this up to her. All she can do is...

Chartreux information needed. by Jimmy Lee
I am planning to get a Chartreux cat. A rare breed. Does anyone have opinions or stories about owning a Chartreux? Are they as wonderful a cat as they seem, or are there downsides I am not seeing? All info and stories would be appreciated.

PLEASE READ - Conan's Adoption by KellyH
Hi there. I am posting this at the risk of being flamed for being a Googler and a troublemaker. I don't care. I want Conan to go to a good home, and I think that's what everyone else wants too. I took it for granted that someone on here had actually had a conversation with Charlie Wilkes and...

Which food for a fat cat? by 5cats
The cat is 23 pounds and really should be about 20 pounds. Let's suppose the only two food choices available are Science Diet Light canned or Hills R/D dry. Which of *those two* would you choose? (and why?)

Canned food - prices by Rhonda
I am thinking of changing our herd of cats over to wet food. We had a diabetic cat a few years ago; that's when I first heard the argument that dry food has more carbs than a cat needs and possibly contributes to diabetes. My question -- with 8 cats of various ages, is there a good, affordable wet...

I went to the cat show at the Garden (plus Cloning rant) by dgk
The cat show was at Madison Square Garden this year and we went. Lots of weird looking cats. We sat though the judging of the Best Kitten Of Show. Apparently 4 months to 8 months old. Thus many types were represented instead of one of the Best Of Breed judgings. I was rooting for the Maine Coon but...

I'M So Angry!! Ringo has been shot with a BB Gun by sheelagh
Words fail me.... Last night I went outside to call Ringo in & when there was no response, I knew in my gut that there was something Very Wrong Because Ringo is always here for dinner time.... I searched the front of the house, then out the back, but there was no Ringo. I decided to leave it half...

My rationale for adopting and not breeding cats by MaryL
At one time in my life (while I was still a student, which is a *good many* years ago), I thought I wanted to get a purebred cat. I thought I would buy one once I was established and could afford to buy a "good quality" kitten. Well, I changed my mind once I began to read about the huge number of...

Biting me while I'm asleep by Tara
Hi everyone, My 1-year-old kitty, Zali, has taken to biting me while I'm sleeping. She'll bite me relatively softly the first time and wake me up. I tell her "no" groggily (and in a near-whisper so as not to wake my partner) and then go back to sleep. Then about five minutes later she'll bites me...

Shelters by bigbadbarry
What is going on with all I'm hearing about shelters. Maybe it's like a hospitol the germs end up drug resistant? Sick cats coming out of them, and so on. Seems like they could just evacuate the place (if it was possible) Fumagate it and then put all the inmates back in. (sounds simple, but...

Anyone who has been following my food saga for at least a year in here may be interested to hear about this... I have had my cat on primarily California Natural with about 25% Science Diet Nature's Best and a small amount of Innova and even lesser amount of Iams (very small amount) mixed in with...

Anybody have a Ragdoll kitty? by Mary
Upon reflection, it occurred to me that my neighbor's new cat might be a Ragdoll, because it goes limp when picked up and just sort of drapes over you. I did a Google image search, and there she was! Am I correct in recalling that Ragdolls have soft, thick fur, large frames, gentle dispositions,...

‘Croc Hunter' feeds crocodile with baby (watch video!) by Tom Smith
http://go.jitbot.com/croc_hunter Watch this video clip of the crocodile hunter (aka Steve Irwin) feeds crocodile with his baby on one hand. After feeding the croc, he's like playing barbie and ken right in from the croc.! This is outrageous! I can't bare this! If you think Michael Jackson is...

Laser declaw? Huh? by stlibf
My cat is 9 months old. Hes not neutered yet because Im dragging my feet deciding if he should be laser declawed or traditionally declawed, and Im going to have him neutered at the same time as declawed. Is laser declaw really so much better? Note: I do NOT want to get lectured by the people who...

to feed or not to feed visiting cat by Lydia
I have a friend... no really, it isn't me... but my friend is being visited by a cat who she said looked skinny when she first started coming around. So she was feeding her and would let her in only to part of their house when the weather was bad. She comes twice a day for food and always leaves...
