Canned food by
KenK
Any recommendations for canned cat food? I've fed her Fancy Feast for many
years but lately she's been getting diarrhea every week or two. She's
allergic to shellfish and fish and perhaps poultry disagrees with her as
well. Not much left. Suggestions? I noted someone mentioned diarrhea and a...

Looking for broad-spectrum flea/parasite treatment food additive by
Cat Guy
I believe there are some feline flea, worm and parasite treatments that
can be added to food.
I'm looking for an oral alternative to the topical skin treatment known
as Revolution.
I would like to treat a feral cat for fleas (at least) and as many other
things as possible while I'm at it. I know...

Litter Question by
Mark Earnest
Great information here about litter boxes to an amateur cat keeper like me.
One question that is not even on the bag, though:
How do you know when to change scoopable style litter?
Can you keep scooping indefinitely, just replacing what is scooped out?
Thanks.

Both eating wet food :-))) by
Kelly Greene
I finally got Zephyr to eat canned cat food. I'll phase out the small
amount of dry food mixed in with it until it's 100% canned. They refused to
eat any of the Wellness or Solid Gold dry food we bought for them. Until
today, Zephyr would only eat Purina dry food. My new vet highly recommends...

Renal failure? by
Kelly Greene
In searching around the web and looking at a cat memorial... the number of
cats dying of renal failure is shocking. Years ago when I worked in an
animal hospital in the city, this was a disease of old cats. Now I see
people losing much younger animals to this disease. Anyone have any idea
why...

Kitten Update! by
cybercat
Little Bella has now been here one week and one day, and she is very happy,
energetic, and affectionate. When we brought her home she had one eye that
looked a little crusty, and that predictably blossomed into full-blown
herpes in both eyes and the sneezing (URI) that goes along with it....

The two kittens return! by
dgk
Jet took the two kittens away from their box by my front steps about
two weeks ago when they started walking around. It really isn't a good
place for exploring - too many cars and too much cement. She moved
them somewhere in the backyards.
I never know who is going to show up for the morning...

OLDER CAT EATING NEW KITTEN'S FOOD by
JGreenfield
I see this board is getting hit with a lot of "off-topic" messages :-
(. Anyway, I have a ten year old female cat. We just recently
brought home a 3 month old female kitten. At first there was lots of
hissing and slapping by the older cat. We kept the kitten quarantined
to our bedroom during...

herpes and "older" cat by
YvonneD
First of all, I am taking my cat to the vet in the morning, so no need
to worry that I won't do that.
I think he may have herpes in his eye. The only symptom he has is
that one eye has clear liquid, like tears, running out. Not tons, but
still not normal. Other than that he seems fine. The eye...

Kitten with Terrible Odor by
Sherry
First, please don't tell me to "see a vet'', because I'm going to as
soon as it can be scheduled on Monday. I'm basically just asking
whether anyone else has had a cat with this problem.
History: She strayed up here probably 5 or 6 weeks ago. She's around
six months old. She was thin, but...

Need advice by
kat
My 10 year old cat threw a clot on Monday. She is on IV fluids & Plavix to
see if the clot will resolve. She doesn't appear to be in pain. I know it
is possible she might throw more. What are the chances she will survive
this and what about her quality of life after? I know that she will...

Latest poop on Litter Robot by
dgk
No one seems to have read the previous posts, but I'll continue
reporting on our progress with the litter robot. It looks like we'll
keep it. It's not cheap at $350 for the big model but it is clever.
All three cats are using it, but Nipsy has the most trouble, being the
biggest. The actual litter...

Good News Post by
jmc
Since there's a lot of posting when bad stuff happens to our kitties,
though I'd post something good: Meep had her vet visit today, and
assuming the blood tests come out good, she's in very good health for a
cat going on 14, with cystitis, moderate arthritis and a heart murmur.
I was a bit...

runny eye by

I have two cats. A 9 year old male that I've had for 6 years and a 2
year old female that I've had for 3 weeks. The female sneezes
frequently. I took her to the vet shortly after adopting her and got
a clean bill of health. I was told by the shelter that she'd had
herpes in her eye but that...

My cat has pneumonia by
stonej
According to the vet, they hydrated him with liquids and gave him
some medicine
that is supposed to work over a two week period but I'm concerned
since he refuses
to eat anything at all, is losing weight and is very listless. Any
suggestions?
I'm thinking of trying to feed him with a syringe...

Vaccines can cause cancer & treating your cat at home by
petcrazy456
I am a certified veterinary hospital manager and I worked as a vet
tech for over 20 years. I am curious how many of you have heard of
vaccine associated sarcoma (it is a common type of cancer seen in
cats, sometimes caused by vaccines). For those of you interested, the
American Veterinary Medical...
