Leaving a cat alone for 24 hours, first time by
RPSinha
As I have mentioned previously, I am caring for a cat who is about 1
year old. During the warmer days she was outdoors all day, but came
inside to sleep. Then she met her first Midwestern winter and didn't
know what hit her. But she has adjusted, sort of, goes out many times
each day and returns in...

your cat in 1 word by
JLove98905
I'm taking an animal behavior class right now, so I've been paying special
attention to my cat's behavior patterns. Cats are all so different! I think it
would be a fun experiment if people could pick one word to describe their cat
and post it here on the newsgroup. The trick is that you shouldn't...

Hard-core feral softening up after 10 years by
John Doe[_2_]
Never say never. After 10 long years, my hard-core feral appears
to be softening up to me. Early on, I began singing (badly) to
her because it visibly relaxed her. Over the last month or so,
she has started coming around me while I am in my computer
chair. I can usually gently grab her tail as...

Cheeky, Boo, and Gnarly: Cats of My House, Cats of My Heart. by
Mary
If I did this right, you can click below and see them.
Cheeks is the extremely polite, very bright and funny asthmatic tabby with
EGC or "linear granuloma." She is the one who conquers the rubber snake and
brings it to me several times a day.
Boo is the tuxedo cat that is severely hyperthyroid...

Opinions on fatty liver/possible pancreatitis problem by
Underwood
We have a 6 yr old tabby who was recently introduced (February) to a new
member of the house, a maine coon mix from the local shelter. He
brought what appeared to be a cold home with him, which he transmitted
to Pnut. During most of February, she was dealing with the effects of
the cold or upper...

Cats in surgery today by
ceb2
We have three 5 month old kittens; Princess Consuela Bananahammock
(don't ask), Roxie, and Grizabella. Today, they are all in surgery to
get spayed and declawed.
I know the general feeling among cat owners is that declawing is cruel
and inhumane. Please, no flames and no guilt flingers. I already...

‘Croc Hunter' feeds crocodile with baby (watch video!) by
Tom Smith
http://go.jitbot.com/croc_hunter
Watch this video clip of the crocodile hunter (aka Steve Irwin) feeds
crocodile with his baby on one hand. After feeding the croc, he's like
playing barbie and ken right in from the croc.! This is outrageous! I
can't bare this!
If you think Michael Jackson is...

cat coughs while purring by
Gail Futoran
Did the google search, found zip, so:
My 7 month old, spayed (month ago), FeLV+ otherwise
in apparent good health (all vaccinations up to date
except FeLV) female Burmese has a strong tendency
to cough during heavy petting sessions. (That
sounds weird but you know what I mean...)
She doesn't...

Why in the World Would He Spray? by
JonM
Greetings --
For the past five years I have had a neutered male cat. In the last
six months or so he has started spraying all over the house. He never
exhibited this behavior before, even when I lived in an apartment and
he was quite obviously miserable at being confined. He is a...

Best food for colitis by
John Tomasi
Hi everyone,
My cat (1.5 years) has had recurrent problems with blood on her stool.
My vet says, in the absence of other symptoms, it's probably low-grade
colitis in reaction to her food. He recommended a low-residue cat food.
Can anyone suggest a brand I might try? I've looked on the Web sites...

Dry food addict. Refuses anything else by
Jane B
Now that I've read how much healthier canned food over dry, I've been trying to convert my cat. She is incredibly fussy. Only eats dry food. She does not over eat, so she is fed at will.
I have tried about 30 different brands and flavors of canned foods. The only kind she's will to touch are...

My mom's apartment is really bad for the cat...need some help. by
Bluesman
Greetings,
So my mom is partially disabled and has had my cat for the past 8
years for company. I still clip the cat and brush her every week or
so, and she is healty for being 14 years old, but the problem I think
is the smoke.
Mom smokes a pack a day, all in a small 1 bedroom apartment. The...

Which food for a fat cat? by
5cats
The cat is 23 pounds and really should be about 20 pounds.
Let's suppose the only two food choices available are Science Diet Light
canned or Hills R/D dry. Which of *those two* would you choose? (and why?)

looking for a new litter by
Elizabeth Blake
Hi,
I've been using World's Best Catter Litter for several years. The litter
works great, but I've finally become fed up with the tracking & the dust. I
have two cats, one male and one female. I have a one bedroom apartment, and
every room has litter in it. The jump out of the box and decide...

When should I put my cat down? by
Brian[_2_]
My cat has sugar diabetics, a Kidney problem, and cancer on his ear.
The vet treated him for his kidney problem but did not think it was
worth while treating him for diabetics as this is not his only
problem.
He has been operated on twice for cancer on his ear but it has
appeared on his ear again...

Itsy bitsy kitty litter box in carrier? by

I'm trying to acclimate my two cats to carriers in preparation for a
trip that will take 7-8 hours, sometime this autumn. The girls have
separate carriers. The smaller kitty will be in the intermediate size
Kennel Cab and the bigger one will be in a large carrier of the same
brand.
Since I will...

Nipsy is part Maine Coon? by
dgk
I was describing my new cat Nipsy to friends at the beach yesterday
and one said that he sounds like Maine Coon. Definite tufts of hair
coming out the bottom of the feat, tufts of hair on his face that make
him look somewhat lynxish. Most of those were removed by constant play
with his former buddy...
