Cat upsetting water by mahlon
My one year old male cat is normal in all other ways except that he regulary upsets water out of his water bowl. When drinking he places a paw in the water and then "paddles" the water out of the bowl onto the floor. Why does he do this? How do I stop it? Any help would be appreciated. mahlon

The myth of the Siamese cat? by Ablang
Every time I visit my local shelter, the purebred I see the most by far is the Siamese cat. I have my suspicions as to why they seem to be available in abundance. I read they have a reputation for mischief and trouble. So a lot of them must be getting turned in because they knock things over, or...

The myth of the Siamese cat? by Ablang
So then what breed is the cat, Bucky Katt, featured in the comic strip "Get Fuzzy"? I just assumed he was Siamese because of their reputation for trouble, and apparently wild ideas. A lot of people mistakenly consider any cat with points (darker feet, tail, ears, and face) to be Siamese, but...

litter smells by [email protected]
I'm having some success keeping the smell down to a minimum, after a few weeks of desperate experimentation. Urine isn't much of a problem, but I swear I can instantly detect as few as three molecules of cat poo from the other side of the house. Luckily, I'm at home much of the time, so I...

Burmese Cats by Alan Hannas
Twenty-five years ago bought a sable burmese cat (from a less than reputable dealer - but that's another story). Never-the-less, the cat proved to be wonderful, very good with my young children and very well behaved. I just took my 13y/o Siamese to the vet today and she was put down. I'f like to...

Door Bungee by Ruby Tuesday
Hi folks, I bought my cat a door bungee (the bird one) a few months ago, and my Siamese has had a ball with it. He's taken it apart, so much so that I've had to re-tie the string around the bird, and the top part of the string around the plastic door holder part again. Well, earlier today my...

Meaning of tortie, tabby, calico? by Ablang
Does anyone know what these terms mean? Only thing I know is that these are not names of cat breeds. -- My cat's job is to look pretty, smell good, sleep, eat, pee, & poop, in that order.

Silly Cats! by Suzie-Q
I have four cats. Two are 5-year-old male littermates. This morning I was preparing their breakfast (canned food - a flavor they love - warmed and in a bowl). They were both in the kitchen/dining room with me while I was doing this, so I put their food up on the dining room table for them, as I...
