I caught a short clip of Caliban doing his normal morning serenade for
FOOD. This is what I have to listen to, sometimes for hours, until it's
time to feed him. It almost looks like the meows are forced out of him,
he's trying to keep them in but one escapes now and then. Turn your
speakers on very loud, his meow is tiny (and getting fainter all the
time, since he is getting weaker and weaker from starvation, you know ;)

Yes, according to Frank and Lyle, a cat can starve to death with nary a
warning in mere hours.

My thoughts too - how sweetly he was asking. Otis sounds like an opera
singer gone to the dark side...

Caliban looks so huggable!!!

I love that. Berfert also sounded like an "Opera singer gone to the dark
side." Sometimes I miss his yowling for food, love, attention,
entertainment, information, boredom, communication, and anything else that I
left out.

Huey is our singer. He goes into the bathroom where he can echo nicely and
sings. I say in my smarmiest voice "Hi Huey" in the style of Deal or No
Deal when the models greet Howie Mandel. Humm, I wonder if they'd let me
bring Huey onto the show if I were to apply and get accepted for it. I'd
have to list members of the cat group as part of my support system and maybe
the show would fly them over to be with Rob and the kids for the taping.
Now if I only wasn't so terrible at picking suitcases. . .

Your "starving one" is cute and the cry most plaintive, but he's a piker
compared to Mistletoe at dinner time. Where Caliban's cry seems a
pianissimo in volume, Mistletoe's starts at forte and quickly progresses
to fortissimo! And hers continues until she's had the second bite.
It's actually quite amusing listening to her complain about lack of food
while she's chewing on the first bite!

Speaking of not knowing what a cat has in his lineage reminded me of
Nico, presently residing with my ex. A friend of my ex's had a sick cat
and the vet said it might need a blood transfusion and practically any
cat, moggie, would do as they usually have the same blood group. The
friend asked my ex if she might borrow Nico for the transfusion, and as
it wouldn't harm Nico in any way, my ex agreed to it. After the attempt
at the transfusion, however, it turned out that Nico had blood type B,
usually only found in pedigree kitties, and not the more common A. Nico
is a rescue kitty, and AFAIR his mom was the cat of an elderly lady in
the country who passed away, and the pregnant cat was taken to Helsinki
by a relative of the old lady. All the cats in Nico's litter looked like
him, bluish grey with some white here and there. So again a case of not
knowing what he has in his lineage... :) I told my ex to write Nico's
blood group into his papers, so he doesn't forget it if it someday
becomes important.

Maybe a stud ran away and Nico's dad is a Russian Blue. Does he have
faint stripes on his tail?

I didn't know that about cats' blood groups!

I can't remember if he has stripes on his tail... checking from photos
well here's a tail shot of Nico's
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/28248...65970501jFIPse
....and yes, there seem to be faint stripes...don't there?

Btw, the mamacat was also bluish grey with white, just like the kittens,
so maybe she's the one who has some Russian Blue in her lineage.

Yes, that looks exactly like Mir's tail, but Nico's tail looks much
shorter than the RBs I know. (LOL at the pic.)

I know. I think he's going to be like Nikki and have a face like a
kitten for all his life.

Nina has that sort of "you can't possibly scold anybody as cute as
ME" kitten face too. Caliban is definitely shmooshable! You're lucky
to be clear over in Finland or I'd have to catnap him. =o)

Now feed that poor, starving widdle baby, Marina!

Nico's tail is shorter than Laku's, and thinner too. But I believe that
Mir's tail is even longer than Laku's tho...
I LOL'd when I saw that tail and part of the butt under the covers too,
luckily he was sound asleep and didn't stir until I'd snapped the pic.
