ancient domesticated cats in Peru
I hadn't heard of this until just now:
http://enperublog.com/2010/11/24/anc...500-years-ago/ Hard to guess its size from the picture, but certainly bigger than an Old World moggy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- e m a i l : j a c k @ c a m p i n . m e . u k Jack Campin, 11 Third Street, Newtongrange, Midlothian EH22 4PU, Scotland mobile 07800 739 557 http://www.campin.me.uk Twitter: JackCampin |

Do you mean the picture of bones in someone's hand? Right beneath that picture, the text says, "A much more recent Moche (1500yrs ago) ceramic of a local puma," but there is no picture of that. It's a link to a .jpg, which apparently does not exist. (I got 404 Not Found when I entered the link in the browser.) -- Joyce Something you'll never hear an 8-year-old say: "Nana, will you spit on your hankie and wipe the gravy off my face?" |

They're pretty common all through the Americas, and even more so 4000 years ago. -- Joyce Hi, this is the Sylvia stress reduction hotline. Judging from many of the posts here, I get the impression that "domestic" cats in the USA tend to be somewhat larger than their European cousins. At least folks in the UK seem to consider nine pounds a fairly large cat, and most of mine have run closer to twelve pounds. (And I've known several who were closer to twenty, without being obese - including the friend's marmalade tom who'd regularly beat up the yappy miniature poodle next-door to him.) |

I got a virus warning when I clicked on the link, which told me "A virus was found, what should happen now? etc" My anti-v has dealt with it, fortunately. Tweed |
