Saving uneaten canned food?
 

Newbie questions about canned food:

If I open a can but only use part of it, how long can the
unused portion be saved refridgerated?

How long can the uneaten canned food be left in the
bowl (room temperature) before it is best to discard it?

For those times when the cat eats very little, can the uneaten
food from the bowl be saved for later? If so is it ok to put
it back in the original can or should it be kept separately
from the truly unused portion?

Up to three days, if you keep the lid on. I know it won't be tight, but it's
better than without it at all.

I wouldn't recommend more than maybe twelve hours or so. Of course, if
you've got a dinner plate for yourself that has been left out in room
temperature for twelve hours, you wouldn't dare etaing it, but cats have got
a different digestion system than us, so they can easily handle it. Just
think about how cats live out in the wild...

That depends... I would have kept them in separate cans, but if you don't
wait too long to serve it again, it doesn't matter, I guess..

cow foreheads, chicken lips, pig, bull and horse testicles, gravel,
wharehouse dirt and so forth...Im sure it will be fine fo a few days.
(these are the by-product ingredients)
Ingredients within the ingredients. Like, old utters, ground pig teeth,
chicken heads, and an occasional wharehouse worker finger.
It's basically like potted meat with more corn in it.

I'll never forget the time I was shopping at Pathmark and decided to buy
some bologna. I don't know what prompted me to read the ingredients but when
I saw lips listed I put it back and haven't been able to eat bologna since.

I don't even like to think about what is in some of OUR food.


ITA. I am not adventurous with food at all. If i know there is something
in it that I don't like I wont touch it. So, if i really knew what was
in some of the stuff we eat, I'd probably starve!

Mine are just the opposite, they'll lick up all the gravy but won't eat the
meat - they'd rather the "paste" type canned.
