is Zodiac safe to use for fleas

hi
yesterday i posted about about my cat's having fleas the people who replyed
said not to use OTC things. well i would NEVER use any hartz product for
fleas but i was wondering if Zodiac is safe to use for fleas. I went to the
website and it says that it's active ingrdient is methoprene while program
tablets and program injection's main ingredient is Lufenuron, i have never
heard any bad things happening with zodiac and since my flea infestation is
just starting out and is not that bad i was wondering if it would work. i
bought the shampoo today since petsmart didnt have any of the zodiac spot on
in, they should get it thrsday though and i haven't used the shampoo yet
because i may get the spot on zodiac if it works fairly well and has no
cases of harming animals. if not i may have to take the vet in to the vet
but i would rather have that as a last resort, i've only found 3-4 fleas so
far on only 2 of my cats. also if the zodiac is safe i will buy it for 2 of
my older cats who are over a year and wait 2 weeks for the kittens to get
the stuff from the vet since one is a pure bred hym and he's already
allergic to plastic so i wouldn't want to risk him being allergic to the
zodiac spot on stuff or shampoo.

the link that compares the products is here
http://www.zodiacpet.com/productinformation.htm
thanks again

I don't know the answer to your question and hope someone else does
but it made me think about something. I wonder why Bayer can't market
Advantage in single tubes (especially the large dog size which you can
measure out and treat multiple cats) for those who can't afford 6
months worth at a time? They'd probably make a killing and save a lot
of animals from the horrors of Hartz which is cheaper, of course. I
think some of the successful flea-treatment companies should think
about *everyone* they are selling to. People who love their pets but
may not have the money for so much treatment all at once. People like
Lauralai trying to be the best cat mommy without having to involve her
own parents. Elderly people on a strict monthly budget. Things like
fleas can come on suddenly even if you've never had a flea problem and
you may not have budgeted for it.

Just a thought....

Zodiac also contains permethrin which can cause seizures in cats. I know of
several cats that needed to be treated with phenobarbital and/or valium to
control seizures, and in some cats, dexamethasone to control severe seizures
after being treated Zodiac. Permethrin also causes drooling, vomiting and
muscle tremors in cats.

You may want to rethink using Zodiac products on cats.
