Donation Honoring Kili

I belong to an organization that raises money for cancer research. The
organization is Phi Beta Psi, a nationally recognized non-profit
charitable organization that has been in existence since 1904. For
more information, I suggest visiting our website, www.phibetapsi.org.
If you click on "History" you'll go to the history page, "National
Project" takes you to information about the $360K+ in research grants
that we awarded in July 2008 (there is a typo in the year on the
page).

I will be making a personal donation for cancer research in memory of
Kili through Phi Beta Psi. If you are interested in making a memorial
donation, I would suggest doing it through your local American Cancer
Society organization (or the appropriate group where you live). But if
you'd like to make a donation through Phi Beta Psi, please send me
PRIVATE EMAIL to work out the details.

If someone could post a link to the obituary, it's possible that Allan
listed some charities there. That's what I did for my parents, and there is
often a listing for "in lieu of flowers."

Such a sad occasion.

Been keeping my eye(s) on the Tampa area papers (older sis lives
there), and Kili's obit has not been listed - yet. I think it's too
early - usually takes a day or two (sometimes longer on the weekends)
for obits to be listed (gotta coordinate w/ funeral home, etc).

I haven't called him. I'm sure he's overwhelmed at the moment. I can't
find an obituary for her. Here they publish obits free but I don't know
about the newspapers down there.

OMG - I just realized that one of the 2008 grant recipients is at the
hospital Christy was at (according to the CaringBridge page):

Jonathan Lancaster , M.D., Ph.D., H. Lee Moffitt Cancer & Research
Inst., Tampa, FL for the study of personalized treatment for advanced
ovarian cancer.

Many (most?) funeral homes provide this service as well. Unless
someone see it in the paper, I suspect Google might be the way to go,
and it's a little early for that. (not to be ghoulish, but I have to
do this from time to time for my work, and my work has nothing to do
with funerals or insurance or stuff like that)

Just checked - nothing yet...I wouldn't like to ask Allan at the
moment even if I did have the number

I think you are right about that. We'll probably have to wait until
someone spots something in a paper or by Google.

Allan's last name is the same as Christy's, right? (yes, I know they
are married) My group sends a card to the family letting them know a
memorial donation was made. I've got the address from the card list,
but want to make sure of his last name.
