Don't your cats' claws put holes in the bags?

Amazingly they don't. They did when I tried those regular litterbox liners
but
not with the heavy duty garbage bags I get from the hardware store.

You're lucky. Mine shred the liners something awful. I tried garbage bags too,
but finally just gave up using liners. It's Bootsie. She claws *everything* to
cover up, especiallly the sides of the pan, and even the wall.

snork I thought it was just mine who pawed everything but what they
were actually covering. :-)

Oh, no - while Herrie jumps merrily out as soon as he's covered in the box -
he's definitely male: acts like he's playing w/ earth-moving equipment,
building mountains of litter, Demelza otoh paws at the box, the wall next to
the box (would prefer a towel hanging there on which to wipe her paws?), &
the floor around it; she can take *forever*.

LOL! My cat Ernie somehow manages to get the poop covered then often
slings one of the turds out of the box, so it looks like a nice piece
of almond roca on the floor. Luckily my dog doesn't like to go down
into the basement.... :)

It's really cute, if not effective. Booty-girl has little white paws, and she
very daintily rakes over every inch of the side of the pan, then starts on the
wall. One paw on the edge of the pan; tap, rake, tap, rake with the other. Then
she switches paws; tap, rake, tap, rake. She's real meticulous but doesn't
cover very well! Yoda, on the other hand, digs his big old polydacyl feet in
like a backhoe and slings both litter and sometimes turds out in the floor.
