Iowna wakes and stretches

She sniffs then gets surrounded by Cash and Iowna who put sandals on
her feets and whisk her off!

She grins big as she hears she is headed to Espiritu Santo Mexico!
They remind her she is 14 today and she tries to count but gets lost
after 10. 'Many' she says and grins.

The doors open and a wave of warm wind with the smell of sand and ocean
comes in.

Iowna squeez and runs out into the warm sand. Cash laughing runs at

finds the water.

Iowna and Cash get into the little floats that let there legs paddle
free but have a snooze pillow and a top cover so they stay cool.
Daisy-chan's has a solid floor and an itty bitty rudder and motor so
she can skim about without getting wet.

The safe little harbor is also home to many fish and a few marine
mammals including 4 adult 'flippers' and 3 baby 'flippers' who shyly
surface to play with their new friends. Iowna grins and paddles after
the kids who of course swim faster but enjoy the chase. Meantime Cash
settles back with one of the male 'flippers' and chats about being in a
home of women (he's married and has 2 girl flippers).

They all play about for a bit, then the mexi-cats send out little
floats with various foods. Not being rude, they send things the
flipper families will like as well.

After a good meal, they all take a siesta, the warm water rocking them
to sleep...

While everybody slumbers, Francesca grabs a float and paddles out to the
young flippers and invites them to play tag. Francesca is hindered by
being on a slow-moving float, but her aquatic partners take that into
consideration.

After a thoroughly enjoyable game of chase, Francesca also heads back to
the beach, finds a patch of shade under an umbrella, and falls fast asleep.

The flippers have a ball with their game of chase then the smallest one
inches in with Daisy-chan while a medium baby flipper curls in with
Cash. The hoods keep them from drying out and Cash and Iowna don't mind
wet legs.

A mommie flipper occasionally brings a mouthful of water to the little
baby and for once, Daisy-chan doesn't mind getting a little wet.

A mexi-cat brings over a plate set in ice and in a bowl by Francesca,
full of tuna. He looks out at Cash snoozing with a baby flipper and
sets up a tray of shucked oysters, fingerling fish, and smoked duck.
Then looking to Iowna, he sets up an iced place of fingerling fish,
scallops, romaine and endive lettuce, and some nibbles of her special
diet food.

As they wait for the guests to have a siesta, they take a short break
and play with the adult flippers and bring out foods.

The day lingers on.

Francesca stirs from her nap, roused by the magical smell of tuna. After
wolfing down every last morsel, she looks around and spots the staff
cats playing with the flippers. She remembers hearing about a diving
cat, so she figures "What the heck, if Jocko can do it, so can I!" She
uses her boundless kitten energy to streak toward the surf, and at the
last minute she launches herself as high as she can go and splashes down
into the sea.

She surfaces moments later a sputters a bit, then thinks "This isn't too
bad. No worse than playing in the shower at home!". She paddles toward
the adult flippers, and is surprised when one rises out of the water
directly below her. She finds herself riding on the dolphin's back,
jumping through waves and playing tag with the others. Francesca decides
this is a lot more fun than having to paddle slowly around in a float to
play with the babies!

FtF takes advantage of approaching waves to leap as high as she can and
make as big a splash as she can when she lands. The adult flippers take
turns surfacing under her and giving her rides. They play energetically
for 10 or 15 minutes, then Francesca realizes that she's worn out and
curls up atop her host. The flipper takes her to shallow water to allow
her to dismount. When she's back on the beach, Francesca bows to her
hosts and meows her thanks. She then returns to her beach umbrella and
falls into again into a deep sleep.

Daisy-chan wakens to a baby flipper making sounds and nuzzling her
breasts. The baby is hungry and a mommie flipper is floating beside
her. With a grin, she helps the little one to the water.

Cash also wakes as a little flipper seems to be looking for where to go
pee and helps him out then it calls to his sister who carefully shifts
to the ocean from Iowna's raft.

The Mexi-cats see everyone is awake and bring out the food on floats.
Cash spys mini floats on the beach and eyes one in HOT PINK and heads
over. He's not bashful. He likes Pink ok? He snags one in green for
Iowna and one in orange for Daisy-chan and brings them back with him.
Shortly they are all playing in the water with basically water wings as
the mexi-cats bring food on floats and they take turns flipping bits to
one another.

Soon it gets loud and Francesca wakes to see shucked oysters,
fingerling fish, and ducky bits flying from mouth to mouth. One of the
Mexi-cats is setting up a waterball net while another blows up a big
ball. There's a pile of various waterwing sets on the shore in many
colors. She heads over to a particularily pretty one...

Iowna and all have a fine time playing with the flippers and each other
but as night falls, they head back for home. Cash and Iowna were on
opposite teams matched with flippers and each won 2 games.

The winning move was Cash noting a baby flipper heading to a ball and
him zipping under to raise him up for a mega score! Bopped it right
over the line and on his MOm's head! She was breathing in just then so
it stuck but she got sneaky and blew it off right back at Cash who
fumbled the ball. Ah well!

Iowna is now 14 and probably offically our eldest doggie. In cat
terms, she is someplace around 20-21.

Francesca the Fierce July 18th 16 07:01 PM

Iowna wakes and stretches

Francesca looks around, appreciating the beauty of the setting. The
gentle warm breeze ruffles her fur and slightly tickles her ears.

Watching the palm trees surrounding the bay sway with the gentle breeze,
Francesca remembers a post she read in the RPCC archives from an earlier
beach trip, in which Ranger had a lot of fun with palm trees. She runs
to the palm tree at the far west end of the bay and scampers up to the
very top. She waits for the next gust of breeze to get the tree moving,
then she swings her weight to increase the distance the tree bends. She
does this a few more times until the palm tree is really rocking well.
When she judges that she has enough motion going, she waits until the
tree is almost at the maximum extent of it's bend - then she leaps to
the next palm tree!

She repeats this process, moving from palm tree to palm tree. She can be
heard shouting a loud, kittenish "MEOW!" with each leap.

Reaching the palm tree at the east end of the bay, she recalls Ranger's
mishap when he launched off the last tree and ended up in the bay. She
catches herself and let's her momentum dissipate, then when the tree is
still she begins to carefully climb down. She has hardly begun her
descent, though, when a rogue gust slams into her palm tree, causing it
to surge surfwards. Francesca at that moment was moving her paws lower,
so she had only 2 paws in contact with the tree. The sudden surge
manages to disconnect her claws from the palm tree, and she arcs down
into the surf.

A very bedraggled, very wet kitten splutters on the beach.
