BTW, what is the real term for that kind of tabby: gray ground and
black stripes?

few binary groups they carry is de.alt.dateien.misc, and at the
moment that has some very nice cat pictures.

It's an interesting...

Flatt cat sites?

So has anyone looked at any of the sites that this "Flatt" person has
posted here? I think it's weird that nobody has said a single word
in response to these posts. Are they funny? Cute, etc?...

Diets & stuff

They are from the planet of people who do manual labour from dawn
to dusk for 9 months of the year.
They are also from the planet of people who raise their own cattle
and hogs and so have...

[OT] Diets & stuff

I don't particularly blame my mother for this - this was how she was
raised, and she was raised during England in WW2 where there were food
rations and great food shortages. She now...

[OT] My first Halloween

I made myself into 'road kill' by ripping up my clothes ont he left side,
applying liberal amounts of black, green, purple & brown eyeshadow for
bruising (I knew purple & green eyeshadow was...

I've got Smudge inside for the night

Meanwhile, I had bought some candy, and then I went looking around
my apartment for something vaguely Halloweenish. Aha! I have an iron
statue of a cat with a hollowed-out head where you can...

Cabin Fever: Was H1N1

[Alaska]
Cabin Fever. That itch that strikes when one realizes that
winter is never going to end and it is still October.

I liked this description of how the Alaskans used to deal with...

I am alive and still kicking

The cultural changes I was talking about were moves away from healthy
living. People didn't work down coal mines and peel potatoes by hand
as a weight reduction plan, but levels of...

It's that 'time'...Fall back 1 hour tomorrow (Sun), in case you forgot.
You're a week late.
It's done on different weekends in different countries. In the US,
it's this weekend.

Except in...

Why not focus on living a healthy lifestyle, rather than on the scale or
the measuring tape? I think we'd all be healthier if we learned to eat
more healthy food, to stop eating when...

now. When at another relative's house a block from here, over the years
I have noticed several houses that have "doors to...

OT FunnelCake (was Oh Baby, It's Cold Outside (and in) and a rant)

What furred up my coronary artery was probably a lifetime of cheese
addiction. When I was a student in New Zealand I discovered you
could buy cheddar in 20-pound blocks - they would only...

OT FunnelCake (was Oh Baby, It's Cold Outside (and in) and a rant)

student lounge in graduate school; the fryer evidently didn't get the
grease hot enough, as the fries were both totally limp and...

a few weeks ago when I was having...

GW maybe for some: Zoo cats get rabbit snacks

problem in Helsinki. [...] Instead of just wasting the rabbits (uh, in
more ways than one), they have now decided to feed...
