Default Buffy-versary

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of my adopting Buffy.

It was a sad thing her meowmie passed away the week before I adopted
her. It was a *good* thing I was able to get her away from the
bully-cat (Frankie) she'd been forced to endure.

The woman who was caring for the cats described Buffy as timid. Well no
wonder! If you had a mean cat bapping you for no good reason you'd be
timid, too!

When I went to pick her up she was hiding on a chair under the dining
room table. The woman had to lock Frankie in the sun-room because he
wouldn't leave us alone. Poor Buffy was *really* cowed by him.

Since I brought her home she has really come into her own. It didn't
take long before she was wandering around, exploring her new home. She
quickly realized hey, there isn't another cat here!

Didn't take long for her to discover the carpeted cat cradle/barrel that
had belonged to Persia. She claimed it. I had washed the crackle-sack
the night before I brought here here. She claimed that, too. And toys!
Oh boy!

I didn't see a single cat toy in her old home. It was a lovely house,
don't get me wrong. But a house with cats and no cat toys really
doesn't make sense to me. shrug

The woman who cared for the cats during the adoption process was
surprised when I put out a request on the Dataw Net for old golf balls
to use as cat toys for Buffy. She emailed me - "Buffy PLAYS?!" OMG,
are you kidding?! LOL

She's all over the place with cat toys! The first thing she did was
kill a rattley (sp?!) toy squirrel - ripped the fur right off it and
left nothing but the plastic rattle with a face! LOL

She's killed several toy mousies, too. Fortunately I had/have a good
supply. She regularly wrestles with/beats up a couple of catnip
(refillable) soft/plush toys. And the golf balls, BAP! Sometimes she's
got two in play. She also loves the fishing wand toy (it has a
mousie on the end, rather than feathers). We had a very long play
session last evening with the fishing wand. She wore me out!

I thought to myself, there was no reason for her to be amazed. Buffy
has her own loving home without a bully cat waiting to attack. She came
into her own. She'll never be bullied again.

She's so very sweet. I love her to pieces. Happy Buffy-versary!
