I didn't realize some cats actually ATE it! I've never had one that did
more than roll around in it with a goofy expression on his/her face.
(And actually, catnip-filled toys seem to make a much bigger hit with
all of mine, so far.)

All our cats gobble it up, roll in it, on it, etc. We grow it in the yard,
and usually they don't bother it our there. Only when we pinch off a bit an
crush it. Then they get really excited.

Dried catnip has the scent but doesn't seem as edible. Especially as they
include some pretty woody bits of stem, etc.
