Default Budgeting Feliway?

Has anyone here successfully plugged their Feliway in for their waking hours and then unplugged it while they sleep?

My two beloved puds have the run of my small house and have lived here for over eight years. My larger 10+ year old guy-cat had been ambushing and attacking my smaller 10+ year-old gal-cat for the last few years. Not always, but often enough and alarmingly. They mostly get along, but still, during these fits, the way the smaller cat sounded, the interaction seemed to go beyond playing. Last night for the first time, I plugged in a Feliway diffuser and bottle. I gently brought larger pud's head close to it and stroked his throat, the way he likes. He seemed indifferent to the Feliway. Nonetheless and it's still early, but the Feliway seems to be working. Both kitties seem much calmer. I am wondering if I can stretch it out so I get closer to 45 days from a refill. I read about the mechanism by which the Feliway supposedly works but can't tell if having the diffuser off say 8-12 hours a day will still result in optimal effect. Has anyone tried this approach?
