As the weather gets nicer it gets tougher to keep Scooter inside and
he loves going out - he stands by the door in the morning and pushes
at it. Do I have the right to make him stay inside? With Marlo, who I
also pulled off the street, it was very different. She never wanted to
go outside, in fact it took weeks before she was willing to go into
the backyard. Scooter is a very different case.

If you can bear to have him hit by car, let him out.

Or get attacked by whatever got Shay. Though that risk is diminished
because Scooter is fixed and won't be as quick to fight.

I wish he was having a better time inside though. Espy, Nipsy, and
Marlo are making it miserable for him. I've never had a problem like
this - maybe because I've never had four cats before. Nipsy is warming
up just the slightest bit; they actually sniff each other and don't
fight.

But he doesn't mix at all with the others. He won't go sit on the
window platform with them, and his eating behavior is just terrible.
If he's in the bathroom, only Nipsy will come in and he won't go too
near him. If, somehow, the others get in the bathroom first, Marlo
sits at the door and keeps him out. Marlo!

So no one is really eating well, except for Scooter who eats inside
and outside the house.

He loves being outside. Doesn't that count for something? His friends
are outside, and I've never seen a group of cats hang together like
this one. Him, baby, and Jet really stalk around the neighborhood as a
unit. Even Shay and Smokey tag along sometimes. If I see one of them
in one of the other backyards, I'll see the others if I watch for a
bit. That's unusual.

I know if he gets hit by a car that I'll feel terrible, but I see how
much he loves going out and I have to weigh that too.
