I just wanted to add that I hope Mermaid will share
photos and stories of him with us. When my cat died many people in RL

made me feel odd because I was
grieving "as though I had lost a member of my family." I HAD lost a

member of my family. But many people here understand.

Thank you for that - I do feel like I've lost a member of my family.

Because you have. He was a member of your family, just not a human member.
Many times the animal members are more comforting and loving than the human
members.

It's my 8th wedding anniversary on Tuesday and there have always been just

the three of us. :O) Have to remember the special times we all had
together.

Yeah, that's the way. But you will be heartsore for a long time. It has been
three years since my Gnarly died at 20 and I still tear up when I look at
her pictures. And she wasn't really very nice. She was just MINE for 20
years and I was hers. I can still feel her soft fur and smell her nice
"clean and warm" smell when I snuggled with her---to me just as nice as that
of a baby, but no milky-baby powder smell!

He had the most beautiful blue eyes. It's 1:35am here so I guess I

should at least try to sleep. Thank you so much for making me feel
'normal' about grieving for my 'baby'...

You are better than normal! The norm is that people don't usually love pets
quite as much or as deeply--as you do. Something for you to be proud of. You
have a big heart. Your boy knew that and knew you did your best to take care
of him. Be good to yourself and tell us all about him to help your heart
heal. (When you create love it never truly dies. I really think that. The
way you felt about him and he about you made a piece of the world a better
place and goes on.)
