Can anyone in the Bergen County area of New Jersey recomend A Doctor
who has treated their cat to their satisfaction? I have just had an
upsetting experience with a vet I went to when my good vet of many years
retired.

I can tell you the ones to avoid like the plague: Oradell Animal Hospital
in Paramus (Near Paramus Park across from CompUSA) and Waldwick Animal
Hospital in Waldwick-- they're affiliated with each other and recommend each
other for "second opinions". They're high in impressive credentials (Dipls.
ACVIM) but very low in ethics. They push every test in the book whether or
not the results would have any impact on treatment or outcome and send you
on a 1st class guilt trip-- in which they excel- if you decline. They will
literally test an animal to death if you agree to their barrage of tests.
Many other people have told me similar stories about them.

I once brought in a female stray who had pyometra to be neutered before the
uterus ruptured. They tried desperately to convince me she had wet FIP and
recommended several expensive and useless tests. I *knew* the cat had
pyometra and not FIP because she had a vaginal discharge-- which certainly
isn't a symptom of FIP-- yet they insisted she had FIP. I left them with a
few choice words to ponder and took the cat to AMC in NYC --20 minutes away
since it was 2 AM. AMC confirmed the diagnosis of pyometra in no time and
neutered the cat. I wanted to bring the infected uterus to OAH and leave it
on the vet's desk but AMC wouldn't let me have it.

Where are you in Bergen County- if you're concerned about privacy- email me.
I might be able to help.
