simple

some cats might need a blood transfusion and your donation could be
greatly needed

i read an article about this... but it didn't say how much blood they
take etc...
just that you could bring your cat (or dog) and donate much needed
blood

the donated blood is also used for research


Vets keep donor animals around for this. At least some vets do.
