Default Restricting a cat via ball and chain

I wonder if it's possible to anchor a cat via ball and chain?

Since the weather's been getting the warm the past few weeks, I've been
taking Dot outside in her walking jacket, hitching her to a post with a 20
foot lead. While she delightedly rolls and sniffs around and munches grass,
I'd do things around the yard like pouring concrete for the mailbox, sawing
off branches while sitting in the tree, waxing the car, or trimming the
hedges.

I noticed though that after about a half hour of playing and exploring on
her own, Dot would settle down to meatloaf and sun herself as close to
where I was as possible, her lead taut.

So I thought that maybe I should make her a mobile anchor instead of a
stationary one. I could drill an eyebolt into a brick or something, and
move her with me as I moved around the yard. It doesn't have to be
something so heavy that it would be impossible for her to move it. As long
as it's enough to keep her out of range of dangerous areas if I'm working
on something heavy.

For some reason I kind of feel like I'm planning a chain gang.
