Yes!
- Either you treat him very badly,
- or this cat has a serious problem!

I presume it's #2, so you need:
- a lot of creativity and imagination to figure it out
(it could well be a natural problem like that your carpet 'stinks')
- a vet
- a cat behaviourist.

Well, to conclude:
Your problem is not easy to solve - and - I feel and sympathise with you!
