He's been scratching his right ear a lot. It's happened before and
he's had some infection so I figured that this seemed to be a repeat
performance. But the vet said that his heart murrmur has gotten worse,
and there is a large growth in his ear that is causing the infection.

He's 16, so maybe the end is near. Naturally I went for some of the
tests (over $600) to find out what's up with these conditions, and
I'll know more in a day or two.

Heart murmurs can be cardiomyopathy or hyperthyroidism, and if either
show up, then maybe it's treatable. But that growth in the ear is bad.
Well, I suspect he's just received a death sentence because I vowed
never to subject another of my cats to chemo. Nor, at age 16, will I
go for surgery. I probably won't even go for an electrocardiogram. I
don't think I should have spent the money I just spent.

Well, that's the news. Nipsy was never exactly the happiest cat in the
world. He whines all the time, and just never seems to enjoy himself.
Well, at the moment he's getting all the Temptations that he wants,
and we'll just have to wait for the results.

I'm sorry to hear this. I'll be hoping for the best. I would feel the
same about chemo, and about surgery for an older cat.

All of the results were normal for a 16 yo cat, except for the xray
which showed something one of his lungs. Could be an infection, could
be something else. So he's on steroids and antibiotics, and we'll see
what happens when we go back in two weeks.

He's whining a lot now, but I can't tell if it's any more than usual.
He is simply the whinest cat in the world. I told him years ago that
one day something would really be wrong and I wouldn't be able to tell
if was serious or not.

We've reached that day. I hate the thought that he's in pain, but it's
almost impossible to tell.

All I knnow is that I'm not bringing him to a specialist in order to
have his lungs aspirated, nor to have surgery on his ear. We'll see
what the current treatment does and go from there.

I often walk into the house, and Sccoter and Baby are somewhere, but
Nipsy comes up to me and whines. And whines some more. I never know
what he wants. I give him food, treats, a petting, a brushing. I just
don't know.

That is obviously very frustrating. Best wishes for him not to be in pain.
