Anyone know much about telescopes? I was given a Tasco 66TE one with some
extra eyepieces. I am clueless as to the purpose of the extra eyepieces,
and the long tube with a glass in in about 1/3 of the way up (is this an
extension peice or something else)? Naturally, it didn't come with a

Of course, the weather has been miserable, with either clouds & rain
rendering the telescope useless, or so bitterly cold & windy that there is
*no way* I want to be outside! So far the only thing I"ve seen is the
front door knob of the neighbours over the other side of the road :-)

Still, its one of those things that have been on my 'wish list' forever,
and it was free, so I have absolutely no right to complain - but wish
someone would explain it to me! Anyone know more about telescopes, their
operation & care, please give me a quick tutorial on what I should be
doing, please?

It's normal that different eyepieces give different magnifications. Putting
this politely, Tasco haven't got the greatest of reputations as to quality
so don't think you're going to be seeing huge amounts of detail. It should
be good enough to get some excellent views of the moon though.
