Hoomin note: most hernia repair are done with laproscopic instruments,
and both pain, and recovery time, are way, way less than they used to
be, even 20 years ago.

There are several very small incisions, instead on one big one, and the
recovery time is much less than it used to be.

There have been a LOT of improvements made, even in what used to be
'routine' surgery, which cuts down on in-patient time, which in turn
means it costs quite a lot less than it would, using the 'old methods'.

I asked Lorelei to purr for no nosocomial infection(s), too. She looked
a little confused, but she WAS purring
