Frank doesn't exactly hide, but when he "vants to be alone" he retires to
the top of the bookcase. It's a good hiding place if you don't know about
it. One time, I was away overnight and my Mum went to feed the cats in the
morning. She looked high and low for Frank but couldn't find him, and was
getting worried that he had slunk out the door when she came in. It turned
out she hadn't looked high enough. When she finally looked up on top of the
bookcase, there was Frank, watching her looking for him. Sometimes, when he
really wants peace, he will go behind the books on a shelf.

Nikki has her own personal black hole somewhere. She brought it with her
when we moved. There is no other explanation for how she can disappear so
completely. Only the sound of kibble hitting the floor will bring her out of
it.
