Default Mike Report Part 2 (long)

Mike went back to the new TED for a recheck today. I was very, very
worried, because I was too depressed to post it, but he'd been getting
more and more listless, and we've been force feeding him baby food for
2 days as he would NOT eat on his own. Our regular TED has been
sounding awfully pessimistic, but once again, we got better news than
we expected from the specialist.

Mike is responsive, to say the least, to the blood pressure
medication. His BP had been 240; new TED said we'd try to get it down
to 160. Today, it was 87. No wonder the poor darling didn't want to
budge from his bed! New TED halved the dose and said we'd hold off on
starting the ace inhibitor; we're to bring him back for another
recheck in another week. He said to keep forcing the baby food, but
his appetite should come back when his blood pressure isn't so low.
He's on another antibiotic now for a stubborn UTI; new TED will be
calling tomorrow with the results of his thyroid levels test to see
whether to adjust the tapazole dose, and we are to keep taking him to
our regular TED for sub-q fluids so long as the edema doesn't return.
New TED said we won't have any idea about a long term prognosis until
we get all the dosages nailed down and the blood pressure and thyroid
levels stable.

New TED also saw signs of Mike's retinas re-attaching, though there's
no improvement in vision yet. He said it *could* happen that they
re-attach and Mike still doesn't regain vision, but said it's "early
days" yet. So we are still in wait-and-see mode on all fronts.

Mike's still navigating okay, but there's a slight complication. He
finds his litterbox fine, but he steps in, carefully positions his
front feet, and does what he came for with his whole back end entirely
out of the box. The poor baby, but ROFL!! It's quite a mess, but
it's also pretty d*mn funny to watch. Or maybe we're so tired and
stressed we'll laugh at anything. ;-)

All the purrs have been working, and are greatly appreciated!

PS: Marina, I'm sorry I told you that new TED wasn't that cute in
person. Today, I say he's beautiful. :-D
