too. They can be unhappy indoors and they can be unhappy in/outdoors.
He is discussing the cat/human relationship and the cat as a species
developing and adapting from being the solitary hunter to the family
pet. Whether they are indoors or in/outdoors is irrelevent in the
context of his passage.
