Default OT Old You-know-whats

My brother and I have been deeply absorbed in the National League
Championship Series (I'm in mourning right now -- the Cardinals did
wonderfully, and deserved the win), and of course, where there's
baseball, there are commercials. Lots of them. Lots of car
commercials and beer commercials. And commercials, more than ever,
seemingly, use popular tunes to make their sales, and my brother and I
are susceptible as anyone to a good tune.

So one car company-- I don't even know which-- uses a kind of
psychedelic motif, and Parliament's "Tear the Roof Off the Sucker
(Give Up the Funk )". My brother and I love us some Parliament from
way back-- we worship at the shrine of George Clinton and Bootsy
Collins. So we're up and dancing, in our pathetic, middle-aged white
folks way, but we're having fun.

A bit later, a Budweiser ad comes on, with Jay-Z, rapping a new rap,
apparently from a new CD. And I find it kind of --well--
objectionable. I don't like the words, the beats, or the visuals
going with it. And I can tell, neither does my brother.

And later on, again, the Parliament ad comes up, and it just instantly
cheers us up again. My very sharp sister-in-law looks at our
ridiculousness, and pronounces "They're kickin' it OLD SCHOOL." Yes,
very old school indeed.

Hehehe. I never used to make songs for my cats, but Caliban has his own
song now. The words go, 'Ow, he's a Food... Hound. Yeah, he's a Food...
Hound.'
