Is there a way to discourage cats from visiting our yard? Is there a spray
or something one can use on fencing or perimeter to discourage them from
visiting? We dont want to take a chance with them hurting our indoor cats
if they happend to get out..

Any thoughts welcome.

You could try something citrus scented. I've heard that cats don't like
citrus smells. I can't guarantee that's accurate, though - haven't tried
it with my kitties.
