Default Does the new JCPenny commercial bother you?

I'm just wanting to get the thoughts of people here. I know this group is
very vocal towards "cat issues" and I am a little bothered by the new JCP
commercial, but not enough to write, etc.

If you are unsure what I am talking about, they seem to have this new
Wednesday sale or something like that and the lady hears on the radio that
it's Wednesday. She is in the middle of opening a can of cat food with the
cat watching her. She grabs her purse and leaves to go shopping, leaving
the cat to stare at the cat food can in the automatic can opener. The
commercial ends with her feeding the cat, but I noticed off to the side that
there is a shopping bag. Thus, the story would go that she left to go
shopping, not feeding the cat, and fed the cat upon returning.

I just wonder how much flack they would get if they showed a baby in a
high-chair and the mother preparing the food only to abandon the child to go
shopping and return later to feed the child. Not having any children yet,
we view our two cats as our children and I'm the type of person who would go
to great lengths to protect them. Watch out evil cat...

(if you're wondering WTF about evil cat, read my other post)

This is a bit disturbing. I think I would tend to be bothered by something
like that as well. Of course, in my household if I left a can of cat food
sitting on the counter at least opened and with me nowhere around my cats
would no doubt be able to get to it and I'd come back to an empty can. I
have yet to see this JCP commercial but it sounds a bit disturbing. I hope
they come out with a posting that says "make sure you feed your cat before
leaving," or something similar. I'd write to JCP and see what they say.

Of course, don't forget the Pepsi commercial where the dog eats the sandwich
and drinks the Pepsi and places the cat on the counter for the blame.

But I agree...the cat would not have just sat there and looked at the can.
If they did and didn't move the whole time, then that cat isn't too bright.
I know my cats would have gotten on the counter, pawed at the can until it
fell on the floor and would have eaten.

I forgot about that commercial. Some humans really want to try and prove
dogs are smarter than cats with commercials like that but it just isn't
going to happen. BTW, I think I should mention here they are thinking of
doing antoer Cats & Dogs movie and calling it Cats & Dogs 2: Tinkle's
Revenge. Perhaps this time they'll get it right and actually make the cats
the good guys. Of course that is wishful thinking given that either the
director or producer is in fact a dog lover.
