What the heck is a baked ziti?

Rolled pasta covered with melted mozzarella (mutza'rdel - Bronx
pronunciation) and meat or marinara sauce... almost as good as Sicilian
lasagna!

Next time you're in NYC, go to Mario's on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx - Its the
only restaurant outside of Palermo that rivaled my Grandmother's baked ziti!

Next time I'm in New York City??? Until this year I had never set foot
in New York state, much less wander around in New York City. I am
slated to go to New York in the Spring of 2010. More than likely that
will be the first trip to the big city. For a kid from the mountains
of Idaho - Topeka Kansas is already way too big. :-)) I will say that
ziti sounds like just what I would like.

I was in a parade today and I was surprised to see than most of my old
friends gave out before I did! Must be all the good food I eat -
corner-stand hot dogs, pizza, Philly cheesesteaks washed down with a

beer,
baked ziti, and a weekly Gallagher's prime rib...

Oh, my, you're missing one of the great pleasures in life -- it's a type of
tube pasta baked with sausage, cheese, mushrooms, onions, etc.

A ziti is a fairly large beast, sort of like a hippo only bigger.
Native to the eastern US I believe. VERY tough to get into the oven
but tougher if you don't get it into the oven. Debone it, sprinkle a
little cheese on top. Add tomato sauce. Umm good.
